My question concerns a Kenmore glasstop electric oven (model #790.95200100). While operating the oven at 450 degrees and the back right burner at level 5, I heard an audible "pop" and saw a flash of light from the left side of the stove. The oven lost power and no longer displays any LED information. What are the likely failure modes?

After letting the stove cool, I pulled the entire unit out from the wall and discovered scorch marks on the wall. Opening the back panel revealed a simple fix: the "element on" light module had shorted and was visibly scorched and melted. Looks like a simple replacement (and some wire stripping where the leads fused). Stove currently works with the affected wires capped off (while I await a replacement module).

I cooked something for 40min as it said and at the end it was raw, I had to pur it on further 40 min this is a conventional oven

It could be your oven isn't as hot as you set it. Get a thermometer and check it. It could be the "something" you cooked was larger than the recipe was expecting... It's cooking, you have to adjust. It could even be your altitude above sea level. Higher, water boils at a lower temp, things take longer to cook.

Kenmore oven off by 90 degrees. temp sensor replaced. Burners cleaned. Air inlet adjusted.

Are you sure you got the right sensor for your model. Most sensors are thermistors that change resistance with the amount of heat applied inside the oven. Their resistance reading at room temp is different for every brand and model out there. So if you got the wrong one you would have the exact problem you describe. But you could also have a defective main control board since that is what senses the resistance of the sensor. If the sensor IS the right one then I suspect the main control unit where you set the oven temps.

I have an electric kenmore model 362 oven/stove trouble.

Are you sure that there is not a buton on it that says degrees Celcuis of Farenheit. It happened to me a few years ago. If there is such a button try pushing it to see if it will go back to normal.

Kenmore gas oven does not reach operating temperature

If your oven is 20 years old the temperature sensor system might no longer be accurate, if you have access to a temperature measuring device that can confirm that the oven is not reaching 350 then run it up and check that its not just your indicator light system. Some oven burners have air control and yours may have accumulated oven soil over the years. If your burner. Is behind a short wall like mine is, use a mirror and torch to check. A clean can bring things back to standard. Flame heat is from a good mix of. Gas and Air...

My oven is burning my baked goods, but shows the right temp with a thermometer. Do I have to turn the dial to broil and then back to the desired temp? Even if the rack is in the middle, everything burns....

If it is convection bake you have to turn the temp down (25 degrees or so) that is listed in the recipe.

The broil setting is not used to bake because it operates differently from the bake setting. So, don't go to the broil setting at all.
The element for bake is under the floor of the oven. You have not indicated whether it is gas or electric, but both of these can have issues with the burner or element.

If you are baking on the correct setting and the oven is heating from the bottom, not the top, this can be caused by hot spots that are created by elements/burners.

to check, look under the floor of the oven. Turn the bake heat up to high and see if the flame is uneven. For an electric oven, the color of the element should be evenly red, no brown spots.

If you are using an oven thermometer, move the thermometer to the spot in the oven that seems to be burning things the most.

Hotpoint Glasstop Stove - Burner turns on by itself

I have a GE stove which I purchased in 2004, and it is doing the same. I heard beeping coming from the kitchen in the middle of the night . I went to the kitchen and the oven was on by itself. I have been unplugging it when not using it. Maybe this could be a recall.

Gas Oven doesn't work under 450 degrees

most common issue is a bad bake ignitor, easy fix, probalby about $75, located on the side of the bake burner, simple to replace a few screws and 2 wires
