Sounds like something shorted to ground..or some grounding issues... unplug dryer and pull back cover off...look for something that might have arc.. behind cover plate..
There is obviously a potentially serious safety issue and you should switch off and disconnect it from the mains and have it checked by an expert.
If your home is equipped with a modern consumer unit the RCD should have tripped. Perhaps you have no RCD or perhaps there is a fault with your house wiring. Good idea to ask the expert to check this when he visits to check the dryer.

remove the back panel and check the thermal fuse ( its white maybe 2inches by half inch 2wires leading to it. the most common problem. if thats good( a continuity test will tell, you want continuity thorugh the fuse).then i would check the ignitor assy.that s check also with continuity test, you can also checkt he plug leading to the ignitor for 110v, ifyou got powerr there and ignotir doesnt light you will need ignitor

i am sending you all the possibilities for your problem, check either of these causes ----and than let me know if it is solved----
Power from the house
Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? Check for blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers--your dryer uses two fuses or circuit breakers. The dryer could tumble but not heat if only one of the two fuses is blown. If you have circuit breakers, one of the two circuit breakers can trip, even if the two for the dryer are connected.
Heating element
Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable.
Thermal fuse
On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.)
Wiring
A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.

I think you have a gas dryer, and a bad ignitor.

Electric Dryer How To Hook Up Cord
For Three Prong Cords
the Center cord wire goes on the center terminal,
the left on the left ,
and the right on the right.
Note: There should be a ground strap or wire that runs from the center terminal to the dryer case.
For Four Prong Cords
the White cord wire goes in the center,
the Red on the Right,
the Black on the Left.
The green cord wire goes to the case or the external ground screw.
Note: Be sure to disconnect the ground wire or strap that runs from the center terminal to the case. In this Photo (A Whirlpool Dryer) I have ran the wire that runs from the center terminal, the Light Green wire, back to itself rather than cutting it off, just incase I need to put a 3 prong cord back on it some day. The whole purpose of this 3 prong / 4 prong thing is it separates the neutral from the ground.

You have a bare wire inside the dryer laying on a metal part of the vent system. FIRE HAZARD
