Not getting pc to scan

hello daz... these printers are not wireless when it comes to scanning. connect your computer to the printer with the usb cable. if it still won't scan, download the driver [or find it at hp.com/drivers and download it there. Joe

connect the printer to your pc using usb cable .install the driver of the printer (hp deskjet f380 all-in-one ) . after complet the installation one hp solution center named one icon will come in desktop open that one and goes through the process (scan document ...>select where u want to scan ..>scan )

Same problem with Xp and same printer, Cannot add printer in control panel , printers. Can only be installed with original software, Try also uninstalling all printer software plug in and when vista pick up new hardware install software from disk and not auto

If you do not have the OEM disk, go to HP and put in the model number. When you get to the page, select "support".

You will be offered an opportunity to download software for your computer. Since it is an older machine, and "if" you have "Vista" you might NOT be able to get it to work..HP does not support older equipment with newer computer operating systems. If that is case - try selling it on Ebay and buy one that is compatible with your computer.

If it is compatible, when you download the drivers, make sure you download the whole file - not just the drivers. Download the operating instructions and follow them for installation, and operations.

I have done this several times and it works every time.

i had that same problem with mine a few weeks ago and my disc did not support it because i have vista so i went on line and down loaded a programme, so if you type in software download for deskjet just follow the programme you want and you should be able to scan

I had the same problem. I could print, but not scan.

However, if you open up Paint and go to file and scan, it will scan your document. For some reason, using the scan button on the printer itself will not work with Vista, but using Paint will. I also heard that using Windows fax and scan will also work.

I have this problem w/a different printer adding it to a computer w/OS Vista. Go to Start, All programs, Accessories, Paint and open that program. Click on File and then From Scanner or Camera. Make sure your all in one is turned on. Unfortunely, there is no fix to make the scanner button work if it is not compatable, such as my 'all in one' w/Vista. Hope this helps. Linda
