It's likely that the power supply electrolytic capacitors have failed.

Replacing them requires knowledge of electronics, the ability to solder and an appropriate soldering iron.

The flickering lines on the tv are usually caused by faulty sustain boards. There are usually two of them in most models and replacing them both should resolve your issue(should cost you about 200-250 bucks for both parts). Replacing them should not be too tough if you have some know-how of electronics. Otherwise please get me your zipcode so that I can help you find a local tv tech in your area who can do the job for you.

SOURCE: MY SAMSUNG LE37M87BDX HAS NO

It can be the 24vdc power supply is bad due to bad caps with domed tops, or bad backlights inverter board, check for 24vdc first, it can also be dead T-CON board, please read below to help you narrowing down the cause of the problem.
First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board.
if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there is some troubleshooting you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having.

Sharp lc-32d4uj picture flickers, then turns off. have to push system reset and plug back in to see pic again for only 2 minutes tops

if the picture flickers, then after a while turns off the cause will be the inverter board or the back light. the processor detect an error so the main board will will shut down. you must need to check a dry joints connector at the inverter board and then bad component like high voltage transformer or shorted diodes. hope this can help good luck, by the way if you think you can not do the job with your own just leave it to the trained technician, at least you have an idea what to expect when you decide to hire for somebody to fix the tv.

The flickering is most likely due to a faulty fluorescent backlight. Once the bulb heats up the flickering usually goes away. Some bulbs are easier to replace than others so I would contact your local TV repair shop.

Mitsubishi WD-52327 Picture flickers and goes blue

In your case I've seen this and it was a electrical issue between the DLP fan and board. The tv could have a problem with the digital tuner and not kicking a code due to low voltage ... it isn't expensive to fix, just hard to diagnose.

Do you smoke? The fans suck in smoke and it gets tar build up on the connections and that causes this in some cases too.

Picture fuzzy and flickers (like tracking)

The flicker could be caused by a bad solder connection arcing or even a bad picture tube. If you notice the screen getting drawed in from the sides as well as top and bottom it may be in the power supply regulation circuits, but the focustat around the area of the high voltage transformer could also be breaking down. If it's over about 8 years old, I would replace it with a HDTV set. Check out the latest issue of Consumer reports for ideas. (No I don't work for them-I've just seen so many people just walk into a *Mart and pick out a TV like they were choosing a box of cerial without doing a bit of research to find one that would suit them best, that I'm trying to put out a word to the wise among us).
