Power steering whinning in 03 Impala

Whinning is loudest when 03 Impala is first started. Transmission fluid is fine and works well. I wanted to check the fluid level of power steering and cannot find stick, have 04 Impala manual that says location is rear of engine on passenger side. Not visible in 03 engine. Mileage is 103,500

One of the lines from the pump should lead you to the reservoir.

The power steering pump is more than likely either low of fluid or it is about to fail. You MUST check the fluid level. The pump is located on the passenger side rear of engine. You will see a round cap, remove it and check the level. It is there, so look until you find it.

You have a leak in the power steering system. It should be easy to find just look for where the fluid is dropping onto the ground below the vehicle while parked, then look under the vehicle to see where the leak is coming from. Make repairs as needed.

2003 dodge durango makes a whinning noise when the motor is running.

Tell it to stop the whining and start acting like a REAL truck! LOL!
On a more serious note, you are probably hearing the power steering pump. Check the fluid level first. If the fluid level is OK, there are Technical Service Bulletins that have been published on Dodge vehicles which call for draining the power steering fluid and replacing it with MERCON V automatic transmission fluid.

Powers steering pump makes a whinning noise .. fluid level is still good and dont notice steering problems... is pump going bad on 2006 impala?

Is it cold where you are? Whining sound is indication that it is starting to fail. Cold weather can make it whine also.

Power steering is whinning?

Have you checked the fluid level? if not then need to.

If fluid level is full and you have not just done work on system so air could be trapped then problem is a p/s pump going out
