Question about The Computers & Internet
I don't know much about these things but I am guessing there is only one signal to split so regardless of how many times it is split, all the images will be duplicates of the original signal.
I seem to remember something from the dim and distant past - Windows does provide an option to work with two monitors but more than that I can't say. I think I saw it while skimming a manual...

SOURCE: Monitor Splitter
If it works it will only display the same image. There will be a voltage drop, which may cause problems.Which piece of hardware has the dual monitor setting?

Be sure to be on AC and have battery recharging.
Then find on your keyboard the key used to circle through active display, it's usually having a screen icon on same color than FN (function) key.
Use both to change your active display: Main > external > both pause between changes, system needs time for reset.

The splitter you bought allows you to split one video signal into two. For example, a teacher using a computer to teach a class. She has one computer, one monitor she can see and then the splitter allows the students to see what she sees. To display independent screens you'll need to add another card to your system. Microsoft Help and Support lays out how to do this with Win 2000. No splitter involved.

If that model has no external power supply then the supply is internal and some capacitors have failed. It's a fairly common problem with that type of monitor. The capacitors are cheap, and not too difficult to desolder and replace. The hardest part sometimes is getting the darned thing open.
Hope this helps.
This is also a test, I have been having issues getting notices of replies through e-mail. Your input therefore is desirable.
