I ordered on line my last cartridge from and independent distributor - using a re-manufactured cartridge and my printer work for awhile as long as I by passed the error message of low ink. Now the system is really low and will not recognize the Non-Dell Cartridges and gives me an 1102 error message. Do you know how I can by-pass this now and in the future the lower price of the cartridges is so worth the effort.
Hi there
Your error message is coming from the Dell Series 5 ink Cartridge. To reset the error message, unplug the printer from the wall. Now remove the power brick from the back of the printer. Wait 60 seconds and then plug everything back in. This usually resets any error messages on the printer. Make sure the Dell Series 5 ink cartridges are intalled correctly by removing them and re-seating them .
Black in left or black side, color in right side or color side
If using a photo cartridge...
Photo cartridge in the black side(left) and color in the color side(right)
Dell Series 5 ink cartridges have a sensor in them that cannot be reset
It is also possible to get a new ink cartridge with a bad sensor. Please take it to the place of purchase for a refund or a replacement one.
Please all I ask is call back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one, so I will keep on helping.

the display on my printer - Dell 944 said to check the manual for a 1102 error. another message indicated I should check the cartridges for the tape being still attached. The cartridges have been installed for about 1 month and I have not had any problems until the printer program decided that I didn't have any ink and I should order new cartridges. I even re-installed the cartridges but the error message still appears. when I use the align paper program I don't get a complete alignment some of the lines are blank.
Sorry I didn't respond sooner - I have not solved the problem but I did chat with a Tech from Dell. He said that the fact that I purchased a Dell cartridge from an independent distributor was the problem. The printer will not accept anything but new Dell products. He indicated they fear that the ink used in a remanufactured cartridge, even though they use the original Dell cartridge, will eventually do something to the printing sensor and even though it worked at first, would eventually stop working and give me the error code 1102. Their suggestion was to buy 2 new cartridges from Dell or upgrade to a new printer for 49.00. But I still have a problem with purchasing the ink cartridges from Dell at a price of 36.00 - so pay 49.00 for the printer and have to pay 36.00 to print is soooooo crazy and unfair! At this point a Dell printer is the last printer I want to use - I use the photo feature, which eats up the color ink, often. With rising cost I was hoping to find and alternative to the expensive Dell ink cartridges. It appears that I have ruined the printer in the process. I really hate the "control" of big business - especially - Dell and Microsoft!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
are you sure about 1102 error report? because 1102 error means:- "The beginning of the tape or a partition
was encountered." This error code may also display as
"ERROR_BEGINNING_OF_MEDIA" or as the value 0x44E.
