Question about Office Equipment & Supplies
If you wish to print using a paper size which is different from the normal one A4, you need to specify the same to the printer else it will not recognize or will not accept the paper ...
Below are the steps that you can follow to:
1) Specify paper size
2) Specify paper type ..
Specifying the Paper Size At the factory, the paper size has already been set to [LTR]. Normally, you can make copies in this setting. When making copies on other sizes of paper, you need to specify the paper size according to the following.
When [ENVELOPE] is selected: Press <> or <> to select the type of envelopes (COM10, MONARCH, DL, or ISO-C5), then press <Set>.
When [FREE SIZE] is selected: Press <> or <> to select [VERTICAL SIZE] or [HORIZONTAL SIZE], then press <Set>. Use the numeric keys, or press <> or <> to specify vertical and horizontal sizes of the paper in millimeters (mm).
Available range in [VERTICAL SIZE]: 127 mm to 356 mm (5" to 14")
Available range in [HORIZONTAL SIZE]: 76 mm to 216 mm (3" to 8 1/2") Press <Set>. Repeat the steps above to specify both vertical and horizontal sizes of the paper.
Specifying the Paper Type [PLAIN PAPER] is selected as the default paper type. When making copies on paper other than plain paper, you can specify the paper type according to the following. Specifying the paper type can prevent poor copy quality, or the printout not being printed correctly.
You can select from the following paper types: - Plain paper (17 lb to 24 lb (64 g/m2 to 90 g/m2 )): [PLAIN PAPER] - Heavy paper (25 lb to 34 lb (91 g/m2 to 128 g/m2 )): [HEAVY PAPER], [HEAVY PAPER H]*1 - Transparency: [TRANSPARENCY] - Label*2 : [HEAVY PAPER], [HEAVY PAPER H]*1 - Envelope: [HEAVY PAPER], [HEAVY PAPER H]*1*1 If print fixing is not sufficient when printed with [HEAVY PAPER] selected, select [HEAVY PAPER H].
*2 A label that can be loaded in the cassette is a standard type (label standard card) only.

SOURCE: error message wrong cartridge
its not a true fix but I had the same issue. I turned off printer and slightly moved the paper thickness lever over a few inches. I turned it back on and the cartridge error was off. I do get a pop up from my printer program on the computer every time I initiate a print job asking to correct the lever, I click OK and it prints. I know its aRube Goldberg fix but I need this printer every day for work and for now it works.

I think you did scanning directly from your printer, you should scan from the computer, just go to my computer and look for your scanner. Then you can scan whatever you wanted to.

Under service mode ( MENU and # ) find CLEAR, and select ERR ( if you cant find err, select ALL ), and OK.
If that does not help change the whole fixing assy.
E003 means that you have temperature problems in fixing assy.
If clear does not help, that means that you have bad thermistor or fixing ceramics.

Welcome to Fixya
Sound like there is a problem with the DC controller. The DC Controller supplies the proper voltage to the high voltage power supply pca. You must replace the DC controller board. You might need to take the printer to manufcturer's repair center if still in waranty.
