Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

Document feeder feeds are crooked. On a household Brother Printer/Scanner (DCP 7065DN).

I've tried wiping/cleaning the feeder rollers with alcohol and generally cleaned around. Consistently skews all pages in the same direction about 5 degrees.

Hi... thanks for the guess. I should have explained more. Printouts are OK when just the copier is used whether if the originals are on the flatbed OR in the document feeder. The SAVED IMAGES of the SCAN process of the same originals were about 3° clockwise... multiple pages. I actually a search on the Brother site found a hit for someone with the same problem but only on a similar printer. I was able to figure out how to do it on my printer and it WORKED.

A few things can cause that to happen.
1. Make sure the toner is sitting correctly all the way in the drum unit.
2. Make sure the drum/toner are inserted all the way into the printer.
3. Check that the printer's back door is closed fully.
4. Open the back door and check if there is anything in the way of the paper.
5. Make sure the width set guides are not broken in the printer tray and are set correctly.

Not the feeder. If I put a "good" straight original even on the flatbed... a printout is straight but a scan comes out crooked. Totally unbelievable... but the link to a Brother site that I left. above WORKED ???
    But thanks for the try...

One of the rollers could be jammed with a staple or small bit of paper?

Testimonial: "Sorry Micheal... if you'd re-read my comments you'll see that it couldn't be the feeder... that I'd found a solution that seems to be some sort of software reset for the Scanner."

Voila taken care of. the dot ( pen mark, white out, etc...) makes a line because the document is Moving and that dot now looks like a line to the copier. :)

Brother dcp 7040 prints grey film over the page

someone cheaped out and got the el cheapo paper.
The low quality paper has paper dust on every page....
when the printer feeds this cheap paper thru the machine it drops the dust onto the tonor cartridge rollers and causes the roller to accumulate toner on the roller... this in turn is transfered to the pages being printed.
check your machines operation manual. There may be a clean cycle you can try to run to clean the rollers...
I had to buy a new toner cartridge for mine when this happened.

How do you clean rollers on manual feeder

To clean the rollers or separator pad
1. Remove all originals from the document feeder tray.
2. Lift the automatic document feeder cover (1).
This provides easy access to the rollers (2) and separator pad (3), as shown below.

1 Automatic document feeder cover
2 Rollers
3 Separator pad
3. Lightly dampen a clean lint-free cloth with distilled water, then squeeze any excess
liquid from the cloth.
4. Use the damp cloth to wipe any residue off the rollers or separator pad.
NOTE: If the residue does not come off using distilled water, try using
isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol.
5. Close the cover of the automatic document feeder.8_29_2012_4_02_48_pm.jpg

Scanner excludes front page

This is not the only solution, but this might help.

Put a blank page in as the first page and see if all of your documents scan completely.

You may need to clean the ADF. Try the following:

Cleaning the Automatic Document Feeder
You may need to clean the ADF feed mechanism if your
documents do not feed easily into the ADF, or several feed in at the
same time.
To clean the ADF:
1. Dampen a soft cloth with some isopropyl rubbing alcohol
2. Press the ADF cover release on the top left of the scanner body
to open the Automatic Document Feeder cover.
3. Wipe the feed roller from side to side. Rotate the roller to clean
its entire surface.
4. Wipe the pad from top to bottom. Be careful not to snag the
cloth on the springs on either side of the pad.
5. Close the cover when you’re finished.
NOTE: Please be careful when cleaning the roller. The roller is
designed to rotate in one direction only. As you’re cleaning the
roller, make sure it rotates easily, and continue rotating it in that
direction while wiping it clean. Do NOT force the roller to rotate
in the opposite direction. Forcing the roller to rotate will damage
it, and may cause the scanner to feed pages incorrectly.

Please let me know if this has helped and thank you. Binary Bob
