Question about Canon Office Equipment & Supplies
SOURCE: Copies and outgoing fax quality
your machine most likely has toner spills in it.
if you send faxes face side down follow these instructions ;
1- take out toner
2- look for thin glass strip on bottom inside the machine
if you make copies side up then do the same except look for glass strip on the upper side of machine

SOURCE: Copies have gray background.
Have you had the optics cleaned resently? If not Iwould start with that and make sure you have the copier unpluged and don't forget to clean the two mirrors under the Black Box/cover. It could also,mean that you need a new OPC drum and blade.. It depends on how maiy copies are on the copier and drum...

SC 390 on an Aficio 1018 will most likely be a bad TD (toner density) sensor, if you've already replaced the drum and developer. (One thing to check quickly though is to pull the PCU out and reinstall it, just to make sure that connection isn't the problem.)
You can either replace the TD sensor by itself, or replace the DV unit (which probably won't be much more expensive). But either way, you'll need to install new developer when you replace the parts.
