SOURCE: I have a phillips combo tv/vcr working perfectly but when I insert a vhs tape it rejects and switches off. I have tried many tapes all working in my other vcr.the tv is working ok.

VCR ?? With the possible age of the device, there could be a lot of issues with grease that is old, belts that are stretched etc. A VCR senses tape tension in order to prevent eating the tape. Clean the unit and check all the belts.

I want to transfer old VHS home movies to DVD on my Phillips VCR/DVD player - how can I do this? (or can I?)

Your dvd has to be able to record. This sounds like a dvd player only. I have recorded from a vcr through a usb 2.0 tv box to my computer, then burn a dvd. Hope this is helpful.

Tape is stuck in sanyo vcr 4200

Take a phillips head screw driver,,take out the screws on the side and back of the vcr,, then pull the top off,, and reach in ther and pull the tape out,,, before you use the vhs player again ,,you might want to try a vhs headcleaner on it,,good luck,, thanks

Lost manual to program remote for Toshiba M-68C VCR

-Push "TV" and release.
-hold prog and enter the two digit code. (Try 10 for a phillips) release the prog button and see if it worked.

If not try experimenting with other two digit codes as I don't think there is an auto search for this remote. At worst it'll take 99 attemts to work ;-)

Phillips VCR 550/07

Calmly and relaxed, read the operator's manual to realize the exact proceedure or one-day, multi-time-setting. Upon reading the context will indicate the component's ability and weather the programing is to be direct component button pressing or through the remote control.

Need remote code to control a Panasonic Omnivision VHS PV-M2079 TV/VCR combination

You need to program the VCR (which turns the sey on/off) as an aux, then program any Panasonic TV type for TV, and then set the STB button to control STB, TV and AUX and you should be set.

Noise while playing VHS

It sounds like the tape is cocked slightly. some VHS tapes did make noise. I'd take it to the store and show them the noise.
