I want to download the pictures from the camera to my lap top computer

I have taken a whole lot of pictures with my samsung es 80 camera, but i cant seem to move the pictures to my laptop computer, is there something i am not doing right? it does

Easiest way is to remove the media card from the camera and put it in a USB card reader attached to your laptop, which will then see the card as a new disk drive

Once you have properly connected your camera to your computer, your computer will see your camera (connected and powered on) as a disk drive - most likely listed as "removable disk." Toshiba has a problem with the connector from the LCD to the board which breaks over time. You will need to replace it. Here is a sample of what the part looks like. You will need to specify your model.

This one is from a DELL, the one below is from a Toshiba. This went bad even though the client never used the notebook as a portable. It sat on a desk for years and was never moved.

Yes, we had few situation with different digital cameras and professinal camcorders damaged in I/O port board due to power surge type damage. It is rare but depending on design of circuitry combination with laptop system. Due to the current present on usb port it is important to turn the camera off before unplugging the camera or any electronic devices. Remedy for the damage requires repair by technician. -James

you prolly can right click on my computer .then open .and see your camera or windows should see it as new hardware.. any way view whats on your cam right click and send to... say your desk top or my pictures folder. hope this helps.

How To Transfer images To Your Windows XP/VISTA PC P, td, li {font-family: arial, u; font-size:9pt; margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px; word-spacing:1px;} To transfer images from your camera to your Windows XP PC, follow these steps:
  1. Connect your camera to your PC using the USB cable.
  2. Turn your camera on, and then select the 'Computer' option on your camera.
  3. After you have selected the computer option, a pop-up appears on your PC informing you that Windows has found new hardware. Close the pop-up.
  4. Double click the 'My Computer' icon located on your desktop. The My Computer window appears.
  5. Double click the 'Removable Disk' icon in the My Computer window. The Removable Disk window appears.

    Note: The drive letter associated with the removable disk may be different depending on your system.
  6. Double click the folder names DCIM in the Removable Disk window.
  7. Find the folder named 101SSCAM. The images taken with your camera are in the folder.

    Note: Each folder in your camera contains up to 99 images. Once this limit is reached in an existing folder, your camera creates a new folder. The folders are labeled successively: 102SSCAM, 103SSCAM, etc.
  8. To copy the entire folder to your PC, right click the 101SSCAM folder. A menu appears.
  9. Highlight 'Send To' in the middle of the menu. A sub menu appears.
  10. Select 'My Documents'.

Dear FixYa,
Sorted the problem out myself. My cd/dvd player is still duff though!
I just connected up the camera to the my laptop and turned the camera power on. Up came the new hardware detected box and the rest is history. In no time at all the camera was talking to my lap top and I was able to download pictures from the camera to the lap top, very good pictures they are too.

Memory Card for digital Camera
After inserting the card, go to my computer and see if it shows the memory card inserted. If so, click it and then when it opens, click copy to location and you choose the location, easiest, my documents and then my pictures.
