Is the belt slipping. Are all the seals good

The reason it is not picking up is probably because the belt is stretched, worn or broken and is not turning the brush the way it should and therefore not picking anything up. The belt may look fine but they can still be stretched or worn and it won' turn the brush. Try changing the belt and see what it does. You can get Eureka belts here:

That means that the belt is starting to wear. When the belt starts to stretch it can't turn the roller brush against the resistance of the carpet and therefore doesn't pick up well. You simply need to change the belt. Here is a link to the belt you need and to the manual:

It sounds like the machine is clogged. Check the port behind the belt and any and all hoses for obstructions and remove.

This may sound silly, but have you checked the belt? A lot of Eureka vacuums use the vac motor to run the brush, and if the brush is not running the vacuum won't pick up. Another thing to check is the condition of the fan blades.. if they get worn they will push air out of the exhaust ports, but not push enough air to pull the dirt into the vacuum bag. Another thing to check is the length of the bristles on the brush... you can change a lot of the bristle strips and save the cost of a whole brush roll.. All of these fixes are under $10.00 (Belt: $1-2, Brush Strip $3-6, Fan $5-10) at most places.
