The solution appears that you must install Microsoft Active Sync (for Windows XP users). I have just installed and been able to sync the device, but the upload process is sssslllloooooooooooow. As in Windoze slow.

I've yet to figure out if this will actually work, but it appears to be syncing - we'll see if it actually puts files on and plays them later.
