When you open the door to our Kenmore Dryer it does not stop tumbling

The door actuator mounted on the door or the switch mounted on the dryer is missing or broken. The dryer is supposed to stop if the door is opened. Replace the door actuator or the switch.

Well we know the door switch is functioning properly so that usually just leave a timer issue.

if you remove the back you will see the heater box to your right,at the top of the box is the heater fuse,also the bottom half of the box is the heater coil,it come off just remove the 2 screws,if you have a meter you can test it if not take it off and look to see if you see a broken wire anywhere,your model number is inside the door-mike

Sounds as if the door switch is the problem. This is normally a safety switch that stops the dryer when the door is opened.
Unplug the dryer.
Remove the door switch and check the switch condition with a continuity meter after removing the wires. Try turning the switch on and off....the meter should read power on and off when you do that.
You may have to remove the front of the dryer to get to the door switch.

there is a relay that latches on when you push the start button .. that relay is released by the "door open" switch .. i would suspect that the "door open" switch is bad .. thats usually a button that is pushed in when the door is closed ..

Replace the timer if it continues through and past a timed cycle.

clothes can open the door if door latch is weak, causing door opening and stopping the cycle, or a bad automatic sensor

your timer is bad,the cost of a timer is close to a new dryer.

check also,

• the other ends of all cables connected to the relay,
  if the other end of any part of the latching circuit has loosened, the relay will not latch closed when the start button is pressed.
• Door Switch, it is part of the latching circuit
