SOURCE: Mower started smoking, then stopped working.

Try to see if there is any oil in it. Or maybe your belt is clogged. A good cleaning and maybe a change of plug may help.

SOURCE: I am having trouble removing

If you lift your treadmill deck up, you will find 2 screws underneath, on the side, towards the front. remove them and that should do the trick.

Neighbor mowed the extension cord and mower won't start

Check the cord has been properly replaced. Check circuit with a meter (NOT connected to mains) The live pin on plug should connect to live pin on motor switch etc. (need to take off cover on switch unit)
Cutting through the cord should not have damaged the mower.

With the small phillips screw under the handle removed, place your fingers on the ledge that the handle rests in while it's down, thumbs on the lower edge of the back cover below your fingers, pull slightly toward you and up at the same time. The cover needs to come out at the upper edge and then straight up to unhook from 3 screws that it hooks over.

Vax 4100, how to disassemble for repair

To disassemble a canister vax you first remove 2 screws holding the handle cover. One is just above where the power flex enters the handle, the other is at the mid-point of the top, hidden under the label. Both are small crosshead screws. Before doing attempting this, you need to be competent with working on mains electric wiring, as some of this has to be removed to do all this.

Once the handle covers are removed, the next bit is to gently lever off the speed control knob - it's a tight friction fit, then undo the nut holding it to the handle cover panel. After this undo the mains power connections from the multi-block joiner they go into then remove the 2 screws securing the mains wire. Then undo 2 bolts at each end of the handle going downwards into the main body. At this point the handle can be removed as well as the top body plate. You have to fiddle the electrics and switches through the hole in the top body plate to remove it. Now 3 bolts and a small crosshead screw is all that holds the upper motor section to the lower. Remove these and you can separate the 2 halves which gives you acess to the water pump. This is held in by screws founf underneath the plastic ring at the base of the motor body (around where the small reound blue sponge filter goes). This ring is held in by plastic springy clips. Gently lever round it to get it come off.

That's it. Re-assemble is reverse of all this. Don't disconnect the electrics without drawing pictures or photographing to work out which wire goes to where.
