SOURCE: No water in ice maker

The ice maker itself sounds like its not calling for water, you would need to replace ice maker, not field servicable. did you switch the solenoid? or the wire(s) leading to solenoid??? by switch the wire(s) when you depress for water the ice tray will fill with water. reason i say that is possible that the solenoid is energized, perhaps the valve post its sitting on is no good

My ice maker quit working.

Ice not being dumped out because the heating element designed to slightly melt ice so arms can push it out is non functional and needs replacement. Cheaper and better to replace entire unit at nominal cost.

Just replaced the water filter on our side by side Kenmore 53569202, thinking that may have caused our ice maker to quit working. when opening the door to the freezer, there is a red light blinking twice...

You could have ice in the water shoot which formed because your inlet valve is clogged. The inlet valve is locater in the back behind access cover. Melt the water shoot with a hairdryer and then replace your inlet valve. Fairly inexpensive and easy to change. The reason the water shoot becomes ice is the inlet valve get slower and slower water flow which gives it time to freeze on the way in to the ice maker. Hope i helped, Rate me.

Ice maker is not making ice

Even though the water dispenser is OK you need to make sure the tray(s) in the ice maker are filling. The filter valve, located to the rear of the ice maker can freeze over and stop water flow. Check the supply line for the ice maker, it may be separate from the water dispenser.
