When oven has been on for a while, we get the blinking F1 message and then the oven shuts off . I see someone has suggested to replace "EOC"...Does that cost much? The stove is a 1998, wondering will it be worth the cost?

Hello there Your kenmore product is a whirlpool product actually. The error E1-F1
indicates that the Electronic Range Control/Clock has been blown.
Replacing this piece can easily cost you $150+. but is not too hard to replace ok? Hope this helps Best regards Mike
Hello,F1 means Stuck touch pad. Usually means that either the touch pad or the oven control (also called clock or ERC) is defective and needs to be replaced. If this fault code cannot be canceled, replace the oven control(also called clock or ERC),touch pad,or both.

F1-8 commonly means shorted membrane. Unplug or shut off the circuit breakers for 15 minutes, plug back in/turn back on, if problem persists replace membrane, if they are integrated parts replace control board (some come with membrane on parts vary)
Always shut off power before any repair attempts electrically
