I can't even find in the manual to raise and lower the feed dog. It does tell you on page 42 to be sure to lower it for embroidery. But, how. I'm really not as dumb as I sound. But, I sure feel like it. :-)
If you look at the back of the machine you should see the button that will let you lower the feed dog. It looks like you slide the button one way to lower and then the other way to raise the feed dog.
To make it a bit easier just go to the following web site and move down to the pictures as there is one showing the back of the machine. The button would be on your right:

go see your local parts man. he will know what you need and he will have it there or he will need to order it.

If the machine has a 'darn' facility and this is selected the feed dogs 'will' stay down.
Other than that(without looking) i would guess a good clean and a dose of lubrication would not go amiss.
Try removing the needle plate to see of there is any compacted "fluff/lint" or indeed anything else stopping the dogs rising. Take off the bottom access cover have a good clean out and oil.
Best of luck

Did you turn the handwheel? The feed teeth will not come up until the machine is operated. Run it a few stitches and they will come up.

Raise feeddogs with switch, then turn handwheel one full revolution to re-engage the gear......unless something is jammed, that should do it. Do you have your manual ?

I have a slide switch on the back side of the machine. When I slide it, it does nothing. Finally I removed the metal guide over the feed dog and lifted it with a screw driver. It will lower with the slide switch, but will not raise back to normal by using the slide switch. I wonder if something needs to be fixed.
While I'm at it, can I use ribbon in the bobbin like I used to do with my Singers?
Thanks
Thanks so much for the reply. :-) It worked !!!! Now I can get the house cleaned really quick and finish these last 2 baby blankets for the grandkids :-) Thankfully I had the most embellished ones finished before this problem. In fact it is all the embroidery work that got me to this place. :-)
I've had more help here than any other place I've searched or asked. Again, Thank You !!

I am having the same problem, but I can't find ANYTHING that is like a button or anything that would raise or lower the feed dog. Any ideas?
What is the balance wheel? I found the switch to drop the feed, but now I cannot get it back up. Thanks.
