Volume goes down to 0 and the menu goes on and off.

The volume on the unit goes down to zero and the menu keeps popping up and going away by itself. Then the remote and the Directv remote are not able to do anything? Looks like I am not the only one with this problem.

A bad connection on the small signal board may be the problem! Have a Tech check this connection, it may be to tight due to the heat shrink tube. Have them peel it back to reduce the strain! Should work then!

Toshiba 32bl505b tv menu locked

Disconnect the AC power for at least one minute to reset the clock.
Adjust the volume to the minimum using the Volume down button on the front of the unit.
Press and hold the Volume down button on the front of the unit and the 0 button on the remote control at the same time, holding them down for at least 10 seconds.
The user menu will appear with the V-Chip cursor blinking.
Press the ENTER key on the remote control and the NEW PASSWORD menu will appear. Enter your new password.

The V-Chip is bypassed by holding the zero key on the original remote hand unit, and at the sane time holding down the volume down on the front of the TV set. This should reset the oide so you can enter a new one.

My E181H is having this very awkward problem that i had never seen before, the monitor has the select keys "<" and ">" under it, it's used to put volume up and down, but it isn't used, since it...

Sounds like something has been spilt on the button and has shorted it out, or maybe it has just got stuck in .
See if you can use a very thin blade or needle to pop the button out fully.
Someone may have pressed the button with something sticky.
If this is no help, just write back and we can try something else

My volume menu from monitor pops up, volume auto-decreases

Was something spilled on the volume key? Sounds like it is stuck... you can use a fine toothpick and plain water to "scrub" around the key, there may be some buildup that inhitbits the key from "unpressing".

Hope this helps!

MENU SCREEN POPS UP, TV CHANGES CHANNELS, TURNS SOUND DOWN

Yes. Its probably a stuck button on the TV's front panel. Try pushing or wiggling each button on the panel. It could be the channel up/down buttons or volume up/down, menu, etc.

When there is a button that is making slight contact, it keeps the microprocessor busy attending to the command its erroneously receiving from the offending button and may not allow other functions to work when this occurs.

It doesn't matter which button is stuck, any of the symptoms you describe can happen.
