Are dishes also not coming clean? Most likely, there is not enough water chruning in the tub to rinse soap out of cup during wash cycle. Sufficient wash action will wash the soap out of the cup and dissolve it in the water within a few seconds of the cup opening.

Most likely causes are:

Not enough water entering dishwasher (check level after fill... Should be slightly below bottom wash arm)

Water filling but draining during wash cycle. Check toward end of wash cycle but before drain. See if water level is diminished from start of wash cycle.

New 'water saver' dishwashers are notorious for having smaller water jets, and thus easier to stop-up jets. Check the jets on all wash arms to be sure they are cleared of food particles.

Another way to check the wash arms is to manually position them at specific locations, momentarily run the dishwasher for a few seconds, then open the door to inspect the location of the wash arms. Do this three or four times to eliminate the possibility of coincidence.

If the wash arms do not move from the location that you put them, the most likely cause is food particles stopping up the water jets. These jets not only clean the dishes but also the water pressure they generate turn the arms inside the dishwasher to properly distribute water pressure on the dishes.

Sometimes you can dislodge and remove food particles stuck in one of the jets with a toothpick or other small probe. Others require that you remove the arm(s) and get a little more creative. I use compressed air to clear mine, but not everyone has access to compressed air, so use whatever you can to remove the food particles.

Simply dislodging them from the water ports is usually not effective... As soon as water pressure is applied, the particles return to the jets and stop them up again. The real fix in this instance is to completely remove the food particles from the arm if you can.

Hope this help. Good luck.

My Maytag neptune washer has a bad odor that seems to be transfering to the clothes. What can cause this and how do I correct it.

on the front load machines there is a large rubber door boot which gets built up with soap scum. always leave the door open a little bit when the wash day is done. there is a product available called "Afresh". it comes in a pkg with 3 tablets. if the odor is strong follow the directions and use all three tablets. then for maintenance use one tablet a month in an empty machine. what also helps is to make sure you do at least one hot water only wash per month, this helps to disolve all the soap that gets built up in the dispenser tubes and drain hoses etc. hope this helps.

The water spinning thing on the top of the inside came off. Can I re-attach it?

You can but mine falls off every time I wash. Unscrew the cog shaped thing. there is a plastic washer inside of it. Place the sprayer back in-it should click into place, then screw the entire thing back on. I got so sick of having to put it back on that I stopped. This dishwasher does not clean the dishes well and I have to rinse them completely before washing. Sometimes the soap doesn't disolve and there are soap chuncks on everything. As well, the top shelf comes apart in the back at one side that I have to put back together after each wash. Plastic is not all it's cracked up to be.

Powdered dishwasher detergent stays stuck in dispenser after wash

There is a rather delicate mechanism which controls that soap door. Often this is the first part of a dishwasher to cause trouble. Instead of using the powdered detergent in the soap holder just pour the measured amount into the floor of the machine.

Once you have used up the powder, you might wish to consider a tablet which also just gets tossed.

Tablet falls to the bottom of tub but wont disolve

The newer Whirlpool dishwashers have little slots in the top of the soap dispenser to allow water to seep in during the first water fill. This design allows the tablet to begin to dissolve during the first fill then be usefull when the soap door opens. In your case, I would check to see if the soap dish is opening at all. Perhaps one of the racks are not allowing clearance or the soap door itself is sticking closed.

Let the dishwasher fill, drain, and then fill again. Open the door of the dishwasher and see if the soap door is still closed and if so, there is your problem. Also, at this time, check the water temperature. It should be at least 120 degrees F for the soap to be effective.

Hope this helps, Ken

Whirlpool Calypso stops at 26 minutes and throws ob code

first you need to clean your washer
run the washer with no clothes; add 1 cup vinegar, that will cut the soap residue from the hoses do this on hot wash hot rinse

then when you wash your next load of clothes; fill the tub about 1/4 full, add the soap, turn the agitator to disolve the soap, then add the clothes

this problem happens also if you are using too much soap or a heavy duty soap such as Tide.

Soap dispenser doesn't open

My recommendation is to switch over to a tablet and merely put the tablet on the floor of the dishwasher bypassing the soap holder all together. It should work just fine that way. good luck.

Dispenser door

Remove the outer door panel and check the actuator for the soap dispenser door it is probably broken. You might also check and make sure you don't have an old soap build up inside the soap dispenser. Sometimes old soap builds up and dries inside the dispenser and causes the door to stick. It should be free. Good luck.

Soap not dispensed and dishes not washed

water is getting past the gasket during the start up cycle. by the time the door opens, the water has caked up the soap. also, its not clear when in the cycle the door is opening.
try using liquid soap.
also, take a peek just after the machine has finished filling and starts washing to see if the door is opened on the soap disp.
good luck
