Kef Q Series iQ1 problem

Myself has the same problem what was your outcome ?

I'd suspect a shorting voice coil in the woofer or a loose connection inside that vibrates and presents a wildly varying load.

Disconnect the bi-wiring jumpers and try driving each 'half' separately as a test for tripping the amp.

Are u sure u haven't messed up with the polarity of the speakers while rewiring the speakers? If all is ok and only u find that the speakers are not so vibrant as the other there cud be a possibility that the coil has shifted inside the magnet and is either scratching or not aligned. Also hav a look at the crossover

if the original KEF tweeter is no longer available there are other brand tweeters that should fit as a replacement option. just contact a repair center (us) and you can get options.

The tweater on my Q55.2 blew as well. I went into a shop in NYC and they tried to charge me $225 for a new tweater, so I took it home and called up Kef. They sent me out a new tweater for $35 and instructions on how to solder it in.
It took all of 10 mins to replace and they are working fine. I've never soldered anything before and it was simple.

Determine the series from the label on the back and get yourself one or a pair (preferred, so they match sonically) of new woofers and replace the broken one. Carefully observe the + and - leads and replicate them on the replacements.

Sometimes you can snag a pair of whole speakers cheaply, too. Then you might end up with one spare 301 and one for parts. I use a single 301 IV as my Rear Surround, suspended on the wall behind my seating position. They also do well as Center speakers. The Series IV is also made of some kind of plastic composite which is bullet-prrof compared to the previous particle board models. I had one hit the floor from 5 feet up and it doesn't have a scratch. Get familiar with the models as they are all different in their tweeter arrangements. For example, the IV's are designed for corner placement with one tweeter facing inward at 45 degrees and one on the opposite diagonal corner of the box facing 180 degrees opposite the front tweeter, into the corner for a bank shot.

Go here and find a nice substitute. Many to choose from and it may be better to purchase a pair of them rather than have mis-matched ones. They should be inexpensive enough for you, as low as $2 up to $480. You just need the size of the mounting hole to find a replacement though.
