How do i get my print spooler up and running again? It won't allow me too install my printer and when i fix the problem then turn my pc off it happens again.

I advice you to stop it first then install the printer and then start once its done.
Restart the spooler by doing the following:
a. Click Start > Run, and on the entry field, type in "net stop spooler".
b. Hit Ok.
c. Click Start > Run, and on the entry field, type in "net start spooler".
d. Hit Ok.

When you try to install a printer and get an error message "Print Spooler is not running" then Print Spooler need to be configured. HOW TO CHECK AND FIX PRINT SPOOLER SERVICE THAT CAUSES UNABLE TO PRINT FILE

Print spooler service is a computer service that loads the print jobs into the printer memory for later printing and it acts as intermediary between a computer and a printer. When the print spooler service is stopped or malfunction, printing is not possible.

Here are the possible reasons :

1. Virus or Malware infection.

2. Spooler service was stop by accident or turn off to manual/disable mode.

3.Faulty installed printer driver that contains error or incompatible with previous printer drivers installed in your computer or system.

4. Print jobs and drawing jobs were corrupted by accident which caused print que lock and resulting print spooler service to crash.

5. Your printer had printing problem issue with pdf files.


To fix this problem, you have to check if the print spooler service had stop.

Here's how to check and fix the print spooler service.

Go to START
Choose RUN
Type SERVICES.MSC
Click on PRINT SPOOLER and check if the STATUS IS STARTED
If not, on the upper left side, click on STOP to stop the spooler service
Then click on RESTART to restart the spooler
Restart your printer and your computer
Then try to print again and it will surely solve your printing problem.

Another procedure :

Go to START
Right click on DOS command prompt and run as administrator
You should be in this command directory before you
Type CMD and be sure you are in this directory C:Windows\System32
And if not, type this to change the directory, CHDIR C:Windows\System32
Type NET STOP SPOOLER and message will appear like this

Exit and go to C: DRIVE
Choose WINDOWS and click show content if not view all the folder files
Choose SYSTEM32
Choose SPOOL
Choose printer and delete printing jobs if any
Again right click on Command prompts and run as administrator
Type NET START SPOOLER
Exit and restart your printer and your computer
I will works fine right now.


NOTE : You can bypass the C:Drive procedure and just type NET STOP SPOOLER AND NET START SPOOLER in the DOS COMMAND PROMPT if you believe that there are no printing jobs pending.


Another procedure is to download this troubleshooting software and follows the troubleshooter wizard and it will fix your print spooler service automatically and some common problems as well.

Printer won't print from computer

Try the steps below to clear the print queue and restart your print spooler:
1. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in NET STOP SPOOLER (this will stop the print spooler service)
2. Browse to your windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS\ folder. You should see files there ending in .SPL and .SHD created around the time you tried to print - delete these files.
3. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in NET START SPOOLER (this will restart the print spooler service)
Try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

My officejet 6310 all in one printer has nt been working for past several days the report states that spooler has not running

Hello Richard! Welcome to FixYa!
If the printer report states that spooler has not running then there are few steps which fix that problem. Follow the given steps carefully:-
Click Start of your PC and open the Run Command and type the command as "Services.msc"

Then scroll down to print spooler services, Right Click and and select Stop

Now delete all your Print Jobs which are in pending status
Now go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERSand delete all the files or folders listed there, Now you can try to return to the Services.msc and start the print spooler service to see if this has been fix your problem
Be sure to stop the print spooler services before proceeding. First you must remove the corrupt drivers manually from the windows registry.
Delete your printer driver, now try to enable print spooler service again and Uninstall the Printer Software installed in the PC, Now again install the printer driver and software.Your problem will be solved.

It won't print. There's a print job in the cue that I cannot delete. I'm able to delete more recent ones, but not the first. Firmware is up to date. My fix before was to turn it off,...

Try this approach instead:

1. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in NET STOP SPOOLER (this will stop the print spooler service)

2. Browse to your windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS\ folder. You should see files there ending in .SPL and .SHD created around the time you tried to print - delete these files.

It kep saying that the spooling is not working

It could be that the Print Spooler service has stopped and won't let you print. Please follow the steps below to fix the problem:

1. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in "NET STOP SPOOLER" (this will stop the print spooler service)

I cannot print, the service spooler is not running

In run window type services.msc and the go to print spooler option just stop and restart the service.

Printer Spooler service!

click on start ..RUN.....type cmd......type sc config spooler depend= RPCSS......click on start ..RUN......type services.msc.......look for ptrint spooler......it will be started if not then double click on print spooler and click on start.

Now try installing the printer.

X3470 printer installation

One of the most possible reason is related to Print Spooler service. Please check the "Print Spooler" service if its turned on. if its not you can turn it on. Here is the way to go Services screen
  • go to start menu then run and type "services.msc" then hit enter
  • locate the Print Spooler service in the services list
  • Change turn it on  switch to Automatic mode
