My camera won't upload

When I plug my camera into the USB cord to upload my computer tells me the device is unknown and malfunctioning. It's not the USB ports problem because other USB cords work.

I can't upload photos to my computer because the device is unrecognizable

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Sony camera says Switch on [MENU] when i upload pic from USB cord

1) Try uninstalling then re-installing your Sony software.

2) When you connect to the PC and switch on, Click on Start - "My Computer". Your hard drives and disk drives should appear in the window.

Have a good look, is there a new drive, it may be called Sony, or USB mass storage device it may just be called drive E or F.

If so double click on that drive, if there's a folder there, double click on there, with luck you should see your pictures, that new drive is really your camera.

You should be able to move pictures by copy and pasting. Once copied you can deleted them from your camera.

3) You can buy a device called a "Memory card reader" Make sure its good for sony memory sticks.
You take you card from you camera and put it in the card reader. Then, once plugged into a USB port its just like another HDD as described in 2.

4) I should have said this first, try another USB port if you can, it my just be dust in the port making life hard............

Good Luck.

Pictures not loading to computer

It sounds like you don't have software on your PC that will recognize the camera when connected. I am going to recommend that you do not use the camera to upload photos. It is better practice to use external (SD) memory cards and remove them from the camera to upload. You can use a USB SD reader or purchase SD cards with a built-in USB interface. You should be able to see a new drive when connecting the SD card to your computer; then all you need to do is copy over the images. One advantage is that you will save camera battery while uploading because you dont need the camera at all. It also allows you to take images with you without taking the camera, i.e. school or work. I hope this helps...californiajones7889e54.jpg67432f4.jpg4db3d64.jpg

Camera is no longer uploading photos to the computer

I had this same problem and it is a problem with the actual camera where the usb cord plugs in. Luckily there is a cheap solution - you can go to radio shack and get a memory card reader for about $15 (or some newer advanced all-in one printers and computers already come with them) and take the memory card out and insert it into the reader. You can transfer the pics from the reader to your computer. All you need for the reader is an available USB port. It is very simple and I have found it to be a better way since it doesn't eat up batteries either.
