RCA 52927 My TV started 2 days ago to turn itself on and off all day long. When I try to keep it on, the image goes on and off and the TV doesn't respond to the remote control. The only button it responds to is the on/off button ON THE TV itself. But even when I turn it off manually, after a few moments starts going on and off again. When I tried the menu/set-up button on the TV, I was able to get the menu screen only twice, and when it came up it kept switching between the items on the menu screen by itself non stop. It was like someone else was operating the TV. When the menu screen was on, the normal TV image in the background stayed on but with the huge menu box covering it. The sound was fine. Help please... I'm currently living in South America and I'm not sure I can find a tech person who knows this product...  Thanks in advance for all your help... AC

My Volume and Channel button won't work and so I have bout 2 remotes, neither of them have worked, one is the RCR311BR remote which has been noted to work for this tv. What else can I do

I have a 2000 model RCA P52923 and I had the same problem occur a couple of days ago. The sound hasn't worked for a couple of years, but the TV is connected to an RCA surround sound to resolve that issue. Most recently, while watching TV, it began to start scanning channels by itself. I shut it off and unplugged it for a couple of days, but each time that I turn it on, it begins to immediately start scanning each channel. Neither the remote, nor the channel buttons on the set are able to stop the scanning, and neither of them will perform any functions, including turning the set on and off.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

New Sharp Aquos LC37X20E. After 30 mins turns itself off to standby and comes back on after 2-5mins (even though the automatic return to stanby has been set to "disable"). Eventually after...

According to Sharp it is a software problem. Engineer came, installed software update ,10 minute job.....TV worked fine for 1/2 day unfortunately: Then images turned black and white in all channels TV turned itself off, and stanby and OPC buttons started flashing. When TV came back on its own 10 mins later , screen had 2 large square staines superimposed in image (as if it was a burnt screen)...Engineer will be back next week...all quite sad really for a new TV.....will keep u posted

RCA HDLP50W151 keeps turning off

I had a set with a similar issue--at first the tv would suddenly turn itself off, sit for a moment while flashing the power button, then "reset" itself and continue running.

Then one day it quit starting up all together. I couldn't get a picture at all. I was hoping it just needed a new lamp (which is what I was able to gather from reading various troubleshooting forums).

I took it to a repair shop for a definitive opinion, and when they took a look at the TV it actually started smoking and the issue was definately the light engine, not the lamp.  Unfortunately, a light engine repair costs around $950.  If you try to do it yourself, the part costs about $700, if it is in stock (and it turns out that it often is NOT in stock).

Instead of putting that much money into this TV, I'm going to have to bite the bullet and get a new TV.  It just doesn't seem a good use of nearly a grand when new HDTVs can be had for around $1300.  Sorry for bad news.

If you can, try to replace the light first. You can get just the lamp for less than $200, although it may be a larger issue like mine.

Yes it is a temp problem as you found out for your self Great call on that BUD.. the best thing to do is contact sharp to see if they have had simular problems and if there are any recalls on this model . If not they will instruct you where to send the monitor into to be fixed.
