When i try and switch it on, the screen remains blank.
Is there any way i can retrieve my data such as text messages and contacts?
I don't want to lose any of my text messages, and i will not upgrade as i have been told, just to get my phone working again. Once i retreive some of my text messages, I will then be happy to upgrade. There are some texts that have sentimental value, hence my apprehension.

Hi there, the only way that u can get a back up of your messages and contacts is by using a nokia data cable here is a link to a google search
and here is a link to ones on ebay
once you have the cable you can use it connect to the phone to the PC, software can be downloaded form the nokia site.
Alternatively if the messages are saved on sim card they can be viewed on any other mobile phone.

Hi there, i have had experience with a nokia data cables, it may be the screen that have been gone on the phone, so its kinda booted up and all, but u just cant see it. a test you can try is calling your phone while its on and see if it rings. This will be good to judge if the phone or the screen.
If it rings its good, the cable & software will work to get your messages and phone numbers off

Hi ya, been a busy day in my real job.. lol anyway if calls cant be made, it may still work, but its be a shame to buy a cable and it dont work after. So maybe the best bet is to try a nokia shop, explain you really need the texts/contacts on the phone, i am sure the technicians maybe able to wave some magic and bring them back.
i am sorry i couldn't get it working, but i am confident that the nokia technicians would be able to get it all back

I might ask further few questions that might make me sound docile, so please forgive me. Im not phone savvy.
With a clear white screen on the phone when on, how would i be able to download any data?
I have taken it into a store and they said they could not retrieve anything from the phone.
Nothing was saved to sim and i this phone does not have any chip to save it to...so therefore everything was saved to phone
COULD YOU PLEEEASE TELL ME OF ANY OTHER ALTERNATIVES. If only you knew how desperate i am at retrieving my text back.

I sincerly do appreciate the time taken to respond to me.
I have tried calling my phone, but nothing happens.
It turns on but remains a white screen before it goes off completey.
Just NOKIA comes on and then the bettery symbol and that's it!
When I have taken it to a phone shop, they did plug in a cable but somehow could not have anything extracted from the phone.
What's so terrible is that the phone is not old for it to react the way it has.
I have another Nokia phone that's a few months old that has done the same thing.
Please, is there any other alternative?
If i take it into a nokia shop, what would i need to tell them to do in order to maintain the data while repairing??

I admire your dedication to help others outside your 'real' job. People like myself depend on you, you have no idea.
I am working in Saudi Arabia, and i found it hard to find a trust worthy technician. This is why im feeling a little frustrated.
Can you tell me whether or not it would be possible to retrieve the data based on the condition of the phone?
Is this common with these phones?
How this all happened, I was talking on the phone while the battery went dead. From then i could not have it working as normal. It never turned back on.
Please i need some kind of hope.
