You may need to uninstall the existing X4690 driver first before installing it's driver for Windows 7. Follow the instructions in this artricle on How to Uninstall Lexmark Printers. Once driver is uninstalled, reboot pc when prompted. Reinstall using the driver for Windows 7 from the Lexmark website at:
- Lexmark X4690 Driver for Windows 7 32-bit - Lexmark X4690 Driver for Windows 7 64-bit
Hope this helps.

Wireless printer communication unavailable via USB

Hi. Hope you got it working fine now on your Windows 7. If not, go to Start Menu > Devices and Printers > right click on the Lexmark print object > Troubleshoot. Make sure the printer is on and is still connected to the computer via the usb cable.

I want to print something on my lexmark x4690 via the usb cable as i cant get wireless in my uni halls but it cant find the connection

Megan-
Did you just plug the printer in, or did you go through the installation process first? Many printers (and I believe Lexmark is one) require that you install the software *before* hooking up the printer.

If you're not sure, delete the printer from your Windows printers folder, then disconnect the printer. Get your original software CD out, and reinstall the Lexmark package and drivers.

After the installation is finished, you should be prompted to "plug in your printer now". At that point, you should be good to go.

Hope this helps - please remember to rate my answer :)

Lexmark z11 Vista Compatible?

Looks like I've cracked it [Touches wooden desk]. Need a USB to IEEE 1284 36-pin Parallel Printer Cable, like the one I received today (ordered yesterday from www.cables2u.co.uk). First, connect it to Z11. Turn on Z11 and boot up Vista PC/laptop. (I run Vista Business on my laptop.) Connect cable to computer. Message appears "Installing device driver software". Click it for status. 'Found New Hardware' box appears. Click 'Locate and install driver software'. A message appears "Error loading LXADSUI.DLL. Specified module could not be found". Click 'OK'. Message appears saying driver software installed successfully. ["Yeah, right ..."] (Have faith, folks!) Now, click Start, then Control Panel and double-click Printers. Right click on Z11 and click on Set As Default Printer. Right click on Z11 again and click on Properties. Check on Ports tab that Port USB is ticked for Z11. On Cartridge Maintenance tab, check right cartridge is showing. If not, click 'Install/Change Cartridge' and follow instructions. Then 'Clean Print Nozzles' and 'Align Cartridges'. Check settings on the other tabs in Properties look OK and try printing a test page! It looks good to me!
