Question about Canon MX700 Office All-In-One InkJet Printer

Cant install drivers on Vista

I have tried the drivers shipped with the printer and also tried the latest drivers from Canons website.

When installing the drivers manually, I get an error: PnPDirverNotFound

Thanks - I tried running the installation cd in compatibility mode (windows xp sp2) - no difference.

The drivers I've downloaded and installed from Canons website are meant to be Vista compatibile (mx700svst100ej.exe). I've included the error message when manually selecting the folder the drivers are copied to (C:\Program Files\CanonBJ\IJPrinter\Canon MX700 series). You can see that 1 of the 3 drivers has installed - that appears to be the scanner.

There are 3 inf files in this folder:

Looking in the scanner inf file (MX700SC.INF), I can see the hardware id: USB\VID_04A9&PID_1729&MI_00 under the [Models] section.

There are no hardware ids present in the printer and fax inf's they are specified under the [Manufacturers] section by USBPRINT\ enumerators. I tried manually adding in the hardware id's of the devices that have not installed under these sections and although it goes a step further, the driver installation fails.

;WindowsXP (as far as I can tell, this section should be relevant for WindowsXP and above - ie. including vista)
    "Canon MX700 series Printer" = CNM_0329XP, USBPRINT\CanonMX700_series94A1, CanonMX700_series

    Any ideas?

Have nearly the same problem. Spent 7 hours trying to Install drivers on MX700 yesterday on Vista. Called Canon 3 times and went through an hours worth of troubleshooting each time. They could not fix it either. They are sending me a new MX700 to try.

I would get as far as the Connection screen and at first it would say "Printer IS detected". All would seem to progress, but then a while later that would change to "Printer NOT detected." Uninstalled, reinstalled, did System Restore with Canon Help Line, etc. Nothing worked. Everything EXCEPT the MX700 driver installed. The FAX installed just fine, as did everything else and all associated Programs that came with it. Just not the PRINTER drivers.

Seems there is a problem somewhere, but even the Canon Tech's don't know how to solve it.

    ANYONE have a solution??

Try installing the drivers in compatibility mode, check the vista help by pressing f1 and look for compatibility wizard then try installing it at this mode, if it still wouldn't install, you need to to the manufacturers website and get a new driver specifically for vista...

It usually works if you remove all the drivers first for the printer, unplug the usb connection to the computer from the printer, restart then reinstall the driver that previously worked for windows xp, and then compatibility mode for win xp for vista, restart and then plug the printer usb and then auto-install...

If unsuccessful then it is an ongoing bug for the infcache.1 file, some delete to make it work but I do not advice doing it instead, get the vista hotfix here:

Read instructions there and your device should work fine. Then wait for the service pack windows is going to release for this incompatibility problem...

Mp160 printer prints on multiple pages, doesn't appear to be a set up problem. Re-installed drivers no change, reset printer no change. Any ideas?

Are you saying you are getting the same page printed many times? What happens when you make a single copy? do you get one copy or multiple copies? If you get one then then it does not sound like a machine fault. I wonder how you "Reinstalled" the driver. You should do this via programs, canon, uninstall. A lot of people go to printers and right click on delete thinking that uninstalls it. Try it my way and download the latest driver from Canons website. unplug the usb cable and install the software and only plug the cable in when prompted to. Hope fully all should be well.
Now this may sound silly but if you are using windows vista then funny things can happen. Canon and vista dont go well but then what does with vista. lol

I want to setup my canon pixma mp 150 on my lap top

Using your laptop go to canons website, under drivers and support input the model of your printer and download the drivers for your printer and Operating system you are using. Or if you have the installation disk that came with your printer you might want to use it, but the websites drivers will be the latest updates. Download and run the program when asked and install the drivers, leave the printer unattached from the computer while drivers are being installed. When software is compeleted plug the printer into a USB port and windows should load the drivers automaticaly.

I have a canon MP270 printer. I have installed the proper drivers off of the CD onto PC (Vista). I can get it to print fine, but it won't scan. It shuts down the Navigator EX program once it is scanned....

Please got to Canons web site and make sure you get the latest drivers for Vista. Programs/drivers on CD's are often out of date as goods stay on the shelf for some time. I think you will find once you have done this it will function properly

Can't install CD for wireless keyboard. Need

Usually when I install drivers for hardware I never use the CD that ships with the product. By the time the product has shipped, CD's that contain software for the product are usually outdated since hardware manufacturers are constantly updating software around the time of release and for awhile afterwords. Because of this, I like to go straight to the manufacturer website and download the absolute latest software/drivers for the hardware in question.

Here's a link below to both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the Windows Vista software for SetPoint. Depending on what version of Windows Vista you're running [32 or 64], choose the appropriate one and try installing that. If that doesn't work, visit Logitech's Support Website, choose your product, and download the appropriate drivers.

Im trying to install my printer but it's an xp disc and im on vista any ideas. ?

Go to the printer manufacturers web site and download Vista drivers. There is a difference between Vista 32 bit and Vista 64 bit, so make sure you download the correct ones. If your printer is an older model, (4+) years, then lots of luck finding a suitable driver.

I have a new computer w/vista & my printer is an i960. The setup software does not work on this computer

I think the setup doesn't work on your computer becaue of the system you are using.
I see you are using Vista, which presents many problems concerning Drivers of new devices.
I think you should check the website of the Printer, so you can consult the download page, and try downloading a driver supported by Visat.
That's all!
