Bose Lifestyle 38 DVD Home Entertainment System System Logo
Anonymous Posted on Sep 10, 2009

I have an OLD bose lifestyle 25 (bought in 1999) which is still in excellent condition. I just bought a panasonic 58" and was advised that because my bose doesnt have an hdmi hookup i would not be able to use it in conjunction. I also bought a blue ray player and will be hooking hdtv (cable) to it and might want to hook up my sons wii to it as well. I am getting the tv delivered on the 17th so cant really try different options at this time. i was hoping someone could tell me if there is some kind of converter, or if I can get the sound to work another way? btw, the amplifier has 2-video inputs, 1-aux input, serial data, and an input that looks like the one that connects it to the sub.

Hi there are different video selector boxes you can buy. here is an example:

Eventually your going to have to consider upgrading home theater systems new systems have hdmi and hdmi upconversion so that you can plug everything into the stereo and then have one hdmi output going to the tv. is the rca connector the digital coax? you can usually tell by the color. this may be what you will want to use for audio. It really does get kind of complex. You may just not have enough inputs for everything. You definitely are limiting your hdmi use.
Hope this helps. If you have more questions let me know.
Thanks,
Lee

Do the easy troubleshooting first! Get a source of clean, dry compressed air and blow out the inside works. Next, get some contact spray and spray into the volume control potentiometer and work it down and up.

I have a Bose lifestyle 25 from 1997 and I need a receiver power cord and a complete harness between the subwoofer and tha acustimass boxes. Do you know where I can find it ? Thank's

There's nothing special about the original power cord, so I'd go to Radio Shack or any electrical supply store and get it for $8.

Or you may have an unused one from other device lying around the house.

eBay has several of the unique connections you want.

Search "Bose lifestyle 25 cable".

Our Bose lifestyle 5 has no sound does the Bose CD disk restore the sound card. Mfg.1997 too old to do this must we buy a new one or does this cost a lot for repair ?

This can be repaired of it's later than a series 1. (not sure if the 1997 model was a series 1) Repair cost will be $225 plus tax (flat rate). Shipping is split between you and Bose. They give you a new 1 year warranty.
Otherwise, Bose can have you trade this in for about 25% off a new, current system.
-If this still powers up, make sure the small 1/8" portion of the input cable (plugged into "system control 1") is in good condition, because you may just need to replace that input cable for a no audio situation. If it's a different series, it will say "zone 1" I think.
In either case, you should call Bose tech support about this. (800-367-4008) Make sure you're with your system so they know what series of LS5 this is.

Remote does not work when plasma tv is on

It is a very strange case that you have.
I think that bose is correct, there is definetly an electromagnetic interference with the system, but the strabge part is that panasonic plasma tvs are not supposed to emit such EMI and they should be shielded.
one advice is that to verify this try putting on the tv, and bring a portable radio close to it and see is there is a change in the sound, if there is one, then definetly your tv is emitting EM fields. this could be due to a factory defect in the tv, have it checked by the retailer where you got your tv.
a second solution is to place the receiver of the bose system further away from the tv and try using both of them.

Bose lifestyle 25 system and Panasonic Plasma Tv not working together

I posted the message as Tet Tet before. I can now tell you that I have resolved the problem. The issue is with the Panasonic 50Inch TV. Some people reported the same problem but only when the TV was up on the wall. It turns out that the problem lies with the metal discs which screw on at the back of the TV to enable you to hand the TV on the wall bracket. In my case I had excessive interference caused at the back of the TV (could be the fan). When I put the TV on the wall bracket the metal discs would be in contact with the wall bracket which in turn was acting as an antenna causing the iterference to the bose remote which operates at a frequency of 27.45MHz. You can solve the issue by adding some insulating tape around all the metal discs avoiding them to make contact with the wall bracket. If that fails Panasonic will swap your TV for another one like they did with me. I can now enjoy my Bose System with the 50 inch Panasonic TV. It took me three months but managed to get a solution. I hope this helps. For further info you can mail me at [email protected]. These discs should be made of metal because they are perforating the metal screen at the back of the TV. Panasonic please change this design.
