"Scanning in progress" reported even when I'm not scanning anything

I cannot scan or print from my Sharp AL-1642CS Copier. I keep getting a "Scanning in progress" message every time I try to print or scan anything, even though the scanner does not scan anything. Any help? Thanks in advance

I did (several times), but it still doesn't work. It appears that the problem arises from the fact that I use a Tablet PC and the Tablet PC version of Windows XP. I tried printing/scanning from a regular laptop and it worked fine. Are there any known issues with Tablet PC and Sharp AL-1642CS?

Can the Sharp al1642cs work with just usb connection?

I've been using my AL1642CS connected by USB to my Windows XP Pro desktop for about a year now - very reliably - both for printing and for scanning. I love the duplex print feature, so much easier on the trees!

I've also printed to it through the USB port on my network router - but then I can't use it for scanning since Microsoft never enabled network scanning - only network printing!

L 1 flash alternately. Scan head is unlocked on the AL-1642CS.

L1 is the exposure lamp and mirror feed motor malfunctions code.Change the expo lamp therofuse or the mtors.

Corrupted tiff files from scanner on sharp AC-1642CS

Clean the scanner glass if no change , format the computer and install the softwares again but firs you can test with another computer.

Printing problem on Sharp Copier Al 1642CS

it would have spilled toner on the laser unit glass which can be accessed after removing the developer & drum units. Its on the upper part inside the machine in the drum chamber.

Not familiar with that model but what I would try is to turn off the copier remove the glass and try moving it by hand, then turn it on and see what happens it may have a bad motor

Tray 1 is full on my Sharp AL-1642CS but when it ties to print to tray 1 the 'P' keeps flashing!

pull both trays out.....have a look in tray 2, is there a switch sensor actuator hanging down yes........is there a similar one in tray one?
No? They get knocked off and lost very easily

if scanner is not going all the way back you need to ck the home posinson senser it may be dirty.
