Window Vista problem??

If you receive this error message or encounter difficulties when attempting to launch Pro Tools using Windows Vista disabling DEP may solve the problem.

This option disables "Data Execution Prevention", a feature of Windows that can sometimes cause errors. This won’t harm anything, but also isn’t always necessary.

How to Disable DEP:

1. Click "Start"
2. Click "All Programs"
3. Click "Accessories"
4. Right Click on "Command Prompt"
5. Left click on "Run as Administrator"
6. Click the Allow button if it asks you for permission
7. Type or copy and paste this into the command prompt window:

bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff

8. Hit enter and you should see the confirmation: Operation Completed Successfully
9. Reboot and DEP should be off.

If you would like to re-enable DEP enter the following into the command prompt window:
bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOn

Hit enter and you should see the confirmation: Operation Completed Successfully. After restarting the computer, DEP will be re-enabled.

Hi saly_60,

You can try the following steps to resolve the issue:

1. Connect the USB cable directly to a USB port on the computer Ifyou are connecting the device through a USB hub* or other USB device, disconnect it and try connecting directly to a USB port on thecomputer. If successful, the problem may have been with the device.
*Somescanners are powered by the USB connection. This is why connecting thescanner through another device, such as a USB hub, may prevent thescanner from communicating properly with the computer.

2. Check USB Connections Youshould disconnect and reconnect the USB cable at both ends to ensurethere is a secure connection on the device side as well as the computerside. It may also be necessary to try a different USB port on thecomputer. Additionally, you may need to disconnect other USB devices, temporarily, in order to determine if a conflict exists. .
  1. Disconnectone end of the cable and then reseat it ensuring the cable is firmlyseated into the USB port. If the USB cable is plugged into a hubinstead of directly into the computer, try connecting the USB cabledirectly into the computer.

  2. Repeat step one to reseat the cable on the other end.

I have a scanner problem on my HP4150 Photosmart all-in-one printer. When I try to scan with from the HP Solution Center I get three error messages. 1 windows error message "A problem caused the program to...

Since you have the latest driver and software from the HP site, you should completely Uninstall the software from your computer.

Then you may need to add an environment variable to your system. If you are using Vista, click on Start, right-click on computer and select Properties then click on Advanced system settings. If you are using XP, click on Start then right-click on My Computer.

On the System Properties dialog, select the Advanced tab and click on Environment Variables. Look for a variable named devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices. If it is not in either the user or system variables list, clock on the New... button for either list and add this variable name and give it a value of 1. Click on OK to close the dialog boxes.

Open up Device Manager. In the View menu, select the Show hidden devices option (there should be a checkmark next to it). This will reveal additional devices in the list. Open up the Printers node and make sure your printer is no longer listed here. If it is, right-click on it and select Uninstall. Disconnect your printer from the computer and reboot the computer.

Once the computer reboots, reinstall the HP drivers and software making sure you don't reconnect the printer until the installation wizard tells you to. Retest to make sure everything is working correctly.

HP Photosmart 3110 All-in-one - Scanner function not working

Scanning requires two-way communication between the computer and the scanner. Usually the error that you describe above indicates an issue with the USB connection. First, make sure that you are not using a USB hub. Try a new USB 2.0 (A-B) cable that is under 6' long. Try using a different USB port on the computer.

If the problem persists, check the Device Manager to see if you have a USB driver problem. (For most versions of Windows, press the Windows key + X to quickly access the menu with the Device Manager.) Expand the section labeled Universal Serial Bus controllers and look for an exclamation point or an X. Similarly check for any issues in the Devices and Printers section of the Control Panel. The All-in-One should be listed as a printer and a scanner.

I hope this helps. If you are still having problems, please add a comment with the OS version on your computer. That can help identify additional issues that could be involved.

Full system scan not getting completed

Open NIS and run LiveUpdate. Keep re-running LiveUpdate until it says that there are no more updates. Reboot the system if prompted to do so (you may want to reboot even if it doesn't say it is required, just to be sure everything got replaced properly). Open NIS again, select Tasks and run a Full System Scan. The error message should not appear again.

Scanner Error Message

Hi,

I understand that you are unable to scan from computer as well as from the printer front panel.

The issue that you are experiencing might be with the USB drivers unable to detect the printer.

However, please follow the below given instructions to resolve the issue.

Check for the communication between the computer and the printer by following the below given instructions:

To isolate the issue I suggest you to try scanning from Imaging for Windows which will scan from the all-in-one product using TWAIN software instead of the HP software.

1.Verify that the all-in-one product power is turned on and the printer cable is properly connected.

2.Click Start then Click Programs then Click Accessories then Click Imaging.

3.From the Imaging application, click File, and then click Select Device.

4.Select the HP all-in-one device from the TWAIN source list.

5.Click File, and then Acquire Image.

If you are unable to scan from the above steps, then confirms that the issue is with communication.

Refresh the USB composite drives to resolve the issue.

1. Right-click My Computer (in Windows XP, click Start first), and then click Properties.
2. Select the Hardware tab and then click Device Manager.
3. Click the Plus (+) sign next to Universal Serial Bus Controllers.
4. Click the USB Composite Device entry to highlight it, and then click Action and then click Uninstall. If a screen appears to confirm the deletion, confirm the deletion.
5. Disconnect the USB cable to the all-in-one, wait a couple seconds, and then reconnect the cable. This should restart Windows device detection (Plug and Play).
6. A New Hardware found screen may appear, click Next through all of the screens that appear for the Wizard to install the USB Composite Device. Click Finish once the wizard completes.

Then try scanning, even if the issue still persists uninstall and reinstall the USB drivers:

1. Save and close all programs that are currently running.
2. Click Start, select Shut Down, and choose Restart the computer.
3. Press the F8 function key, this will display the Windows Startup menu.
4. Select Safe mode.
5. After Windows loads in Safe mode, right-click the My Computer icon and select Properties.
6. Select the Hardware tab and click the Device Manager button.
7. In the Device Manager Window, double-click the Universal Serial Bus controllers.
8. Right-click the device listed under Universal Serial Bus controller and select Uninstall.
9. Click OK to confirm the removal of the device.

NOTE: Repeat steps 8 and 9 until all the devices under Universal Serial Bus Controller are removed.

The USB port is now uninstalled.

Now, restart the system. The system automatically detects and reinstalls the USB port.

Then try scanning this should resolve the issue.

If you are unable to scan from software, try running the scan diagnostic utility from the below weblink:

Here is the web link to download scan diagnostic utility:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=US&swItem=oj-45265-1ScanDiagnosticUtility_ver_1.5.exe

================

Just copy and paste the entire link into the Internet browser's address bar and press enter.

Even if the issue still persists uninstall the complete All-in- one software and reinstall it.

This should resolve the issue.
