My Dell monitor blacked out. It has a wireless keyboard.

I bought an HP monitor which works fine but it cannot communicate with the new HP monitor. Perhaps I need the software/driver. I lost the original CD. How can I overcome this problem? Do I need a new wireless keyboard.

I would go to the manufacture's website and download the driver and at least rule that out as the problem.

NO OS stated, XP"? never post without OS stated, or answer get 10x more harder, See? make it easy for the helper and get more help.....
no Monitor stated. (maker, CRT, LCD what?)
The monitor is not fibbing to you BTW, the PC did go dead or to sleep. seems its monitor monitor of some kind with DVI.

if the monitor works on other PCs then the monitor is not bad.
i Bet it works (old ones 2002, have a hidden deep internal sleep mode. and is not yours IM sure now) DVI IS THE ONLY CLUE THERE.
So PC is dead. this PC came with only VISTA new,
is it still VISTA?????????
HP has support on it still
here (carbon dated by me 2008, IIRC)
https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-slimline-s3400-desktop-pc-series/3688715/model/3688723

this year,? get all those files and books there backed up
when HP support ends after 10 year rule, (be savvy?)

what keyboard USB or wireless keyboard mouse
use wired USB keyboards if wireless the battery is dead. easy no?

now in VISTA, go to Control panel, click power
turn off all sleep modes and all hibernate modes
the turn off screen savers, if turned on , disktop . RC right click
in display settings or personalize, turn off , need login to come out of sleep or screen saver.
try a real keyboard, that has USB cable yet? be first thing to do.
always keep a real keyboard, handy,,,
batteries fail. in all wireless devices like this (inside them)

luck you desktops have lies DIM fails. there are many.

one other way , and common is PC overheated.

I bought my lap top with a wireless mouse. It worked fine until two days ago. It will not do anything now.

Replace or recharge the batteries, if rechargable. Try to reestablish communication between the USB stick and the mouse using the buttons provided on both devices (see instructions).
If this can't help there is a problem that can't be fixed for a reasonable price and you should buy another mouse.

I have a Dell bluetooth keyboard and mouse that I bought with my Dell Inspiron notebook - I now want to use with my new Sony Vaio notebook but the Vaio does not seem to be able to see the keyboard and...

The mouse and keyboard to not communicate directly with a computer, but with a small USB device plugged into the computer. Remove that device from the Dell and plug it into the Sony. But you also have to go through the resynch sequence.

Monitor on power save mode and using wireless keyboard and mouse

This sounds like the monitor is not reading a signal from the computer. I had the same problem when I installed a DIV cable from my old VGA cable. The video card was still sending the signal via VGA port instead of the DVI port of my video card. You should cheack the cable to you're computer and what port is being used. If everything is hooked up correctly then there might be a problem with the cable. Other then that it could be you're video card. If the hard drive is running and everything is running fine then what I said should be whats wrong. If nothing works go back to the shope and tell them the new problem you have.

I have a Dell A525 Speaker system that I bought to use with a Dell projector and an Inspiron laptop computer. It worked fine until I had the computer stolen. Not thinking ahead I bought an HP computer...

The speakers can be used with the HP computer. The connection on the speaker set should look like the connector on a headset or headphones for an ipod. The connection for this can be located on the back of the computer near the location of where you plug in your monitor and keyboard. There also may be another location to plug this in at. If you had recently purchased this laptop, many manufacturers will put a connection the the front of the PC. Usually under a flap of some sort.
