Looking at the specs, the max is 2gb for your Toshiba. According to this website, its only a 256mb ddr sdram. So my guess is you only have 1 slot for the ram. I'd go with a 2gb ram if you can afford it, 1gb just don't cut it in todays technology.
I believe its the PC2700 model, so find a 1gb or 2gb PC2700 @ 333mhz and you should be set.
You can upgrade memory to One GB(1024 MB) or 2 GB(2*1024MB)
Memory type:PC2700 DDR333 SDRAM 2.5V SODIMM
Always use as few memory chips as possible; one chip (1GB) is better than 2x512MB.
That way, you can expand easily without losing any me
mory.
By the way, if you add a single 1GB chip, you can also keep one of the ccurrent chips in the computer.
It says in the link below you can get 2GB

If you are running XP or Vista they will tell you the maximum amount of memory for your unit. It's under the system information page in the "help and support' opening page.
Hi,
Yes You can use 2 512MB of memory on this model.
That's absolutely fine. It would give you same benefit as 1 single GB of memory.
Thanks.
