On installing yahoo messenger, the windows installer gives a message "incorrect commandline parameters." On clicking the yahoo icon after installation, it gives a message "this application has failed to start because application configuration is incorrect." Reinstalling the application might fix this problem. I have formatted the computer and installed windows XP again but still the same problem occurs again and again. Even uninstalling and reinstalling yahoo messenger does not help. What do you suggest.

Download messanger again and try installing again. It may have gotten corrupted in the download. If it still doesn't work then you have a problem with your operating system and may have to re-install it.

All you need to do is install the latest version of MS Installer. You can find it on microsoft.com. also run the Windows Updater.
This error you are getting is caused by he Windows Installer, not by Yahoo itself.

i had the problem in installation of yahoo messenger it gives the messege that in correct command linepatametrer problem. just go to start control panet addremove programme and uninstall the yahoo with his all features. then go to yahoo and find the 7 or 7.5 version and download and install it. it will work BUT it will gives you the messege that u r using the older version go to this webside and down the latest version of yahoo messenger. go and find the 8.1.0.421 and download it.
alter that when u installing it it will computer will gives you the messege that u allresdy install the latest version if u r installing this one go and unistall the other. go to add remove programme and uninstall that version and reinstall the latest 8.1.0.421. when it done. give it ur id and password and make fun......

I think you will need to upgrade your windows installer version.....download it from Here run it and now try ...hope it will work...Good Luck

why cant i send a message to all my friends on yahoo messenger?how can i solve this?

We need to uninstoll it then reinstall it.

1.- clck START
2.- click SETTINGS
3.- click CONTROL PANEL
4.- select ADD IREMOVE
5.- LOOK FOR MESSENGER 9
6.- SELECT REMOVE
it may ask you if you sure say YES
when is all gone.
RESTART your computer and go to msn.com try to install it again be patient don't open any windows or games it will take few min but will be better.

Try to update windowsinstaller. Search for WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86 at www.microsoft.com site. Install it before installing YM 9.

Messenger 9 for Vista users and XP users with 9, Mess 9 has many unsolved problems and missing features that messenger 8.1 or 8.0 has. Plus now the updated Windows Firewall will not let Messenger download correctly.And is causing 9 users to have problems now.. You need to remove version 9,or present version, 1st to get another version to work. To remove Messenger version Use Unwise located middle of page of Messenger Folder.Make sure Automatic is checked! then continue to uninstall..Or use control panel ,Vista-program features or XP-add/remove this is the 2nd best way. If you just delete the Yahoo file to remove messenger,you will also lose the shared file that contains things needed on other Yahoo sites. Your contacts are stored online But if you want to save your old messages archives,they are saved on your PC in the messenger file you are about to delete.Go here and copy them to a new folder
