I have HP Officejet 6500 connected via USB to office desktop. I also need print from vista laptops on the same wireless network as the desktop. How do you do it ?

Hi, I just completed this same query this week.

to set up my remote network i followed promts from windows and then had to run my windows xp startup disc on my vista laptop.

After that was complete i had to install the hp printer setup cd onto my vista laptop and connect the hp printer to my router using the ethernet cable. I followed the prompts on the vista as the cd continued to install. then at the end of it all it showed i had correctly installed the printer via wireless and asked me to do a practice print which i did and all seems fine.

I can now print from my vista laptop and my windows xp desktop. I hope this helps

Have you talked with Lexmark Technical Support? I suspect you may have to escalate this beyond level one. Vista on Mac is likely to have issues that differ from other Vista environments.

Hello,
The printer drivers must be installed on each computer. If computer A runs XP, you must install driver for XP on computert A; If machine B runs Vista, then you must install printer drivers for Vista on machine B.

Hope it helps.

The printer needs to be installed by you as "Adiministrator". When installing the printer you need to hold down the "Alt" button when clicking n Add Printer function. It will then give an option of installing as Administrator.

Can't connect Xp laptop to 64Bit Vista PC to be able to print across wireless network

yes easy to fix, just share your print driver give it a share name like canonmp780 on the pc it is connected to
then get on your laptop asuming its on your wireless network and in the start bar run this command. \\ your computer name one printer is connected to \ canonmp780.
so if your computer name is windows and your printer name is canonmp780 the run command will be: \\windows\canonmp780 hope this helps and really easiest way to connect to it.

Connecting wi-fi on Epson SX600FW

I hada the same problem. I used the settings on the actual printer rather than through the software to input the information it needed and It works fine now. I was able to set it up on my husbands laptop without any problems, I just added his laptop through installing the software on his laptops as it had picked up the signal and was showing in the Network and sharing centre on Windows Vista premium. Hope this helps. I think you need to take the wire out now and now load it as wireless. You need to use the wire first to connect then take it out to connect to the wirelss network. My router is a Sky router.

Upgrade failure

The software that came with the WPS54G model is not (yet)compatible with Vista systems. This model is not listed on the Vista-ready devices from Linksys' website (www.linksys.com/vista). The behavior more likely a result of a software incompatibility.

For PrintServer network setup, you may still use the CD on a non-Vista system (XP, Win2000 or lower). Or, by installing it manually by accessing it's web interface.

To make your Vista working with the printserver WITHOUT the use of the PrintServer CD, do the ff:
1. Make sure PrintServer is configured on the network with the same wireless settings of your router and with a manually assigned IP address which is in range of the router's IP segment.
2. Make sure that computer can print locally to the printer (e.g. via USB connection to the printer).
3. When computer can surf the net and connected to the router's network (wired or wireless), follow the steps from this article and make sure Printer is showing up as Online.

Goodluck!

Wireless printer

it sounds as if the printer may not be set as the default printer, so check in the installed printers and check and also check that the printer you are sending the print to is the setup one and not a pdf or microsoft office document printer, this is found on the drop down box when the print option appears. i am also assuming that the printer has worked before from vista to an xp machine as sometimes xp needs a small update to be used with a vista pc on the network
