Remove valve cover,bring #1 cylinder top dead center,make sure both push rods are loose,put you dist in and were ever your rotor is pointed that will be your number one wire.then you will have to adjust you timing when started by ear,I hope this helps you
there are usually dots near the teeth and there somethings will only be a beveled tooth (like on the rotor gears of my A mangeto). Are you looking for timing marks for the distributor gear or the engine? If its the engine, there is a line on the flywheel that will aline with a pointer on the clutch cover (flat plate on the front of the transmission). Sometimes, well often the mark is hard to find on the flywheel. sometimes there is a white mark on there for you. a hand crank helps a lot as well.
