be more specific!...how is the tv hooked up? hdmi, component, straight to the tv, or into the amp then tv?....what audio out? optical, digital? also what are you trying to view? local programming? cable/sat? dvd? your best bet is to ignore video on the amp and go straight to tv. can't help u more until i have more specifics.

SOURCE: Trouble connecting marine amp to stereo

Hello lizskates814,

You can use either the high level (speaker) or the low-level (RCA's) inputs to the amp, but not both. Choose whichever one sounds the best or is more convenient to install and leave the other disconnected.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: digital optical output for technics 5.1 surround sound receiver

I went to the HDTV plasma manual. It stated the only way the digital optical audio output would work (from this TV) was to go to the menu, select audio and turn off the TV speakers. Basically, it had nothing to do with the technics receiver.

Testimonial: "worked like a champ!"

Hook mz506 surround sound to my Samsung tv

Typically surround sound is run through a receiver or stereo. The sound from the tv is carried to the receiver by cables (hdmi or Audio-Video connected to input area of receiver). Then the speakers are connected to the output area of the receiver.
If you are not using a receiver, then the speakers must be able to connect directly to the tv and you have to see what kind of cabling your tv supports.

Connect with componet cables.

The only digital audio input for this TV will be via the HDMI input. Of course, even with HDMI in, you're only going to get a simple stereo output from the TV. You can use the analog L & R audio inputs for a very similar sound from the TV speakers.

The digital multi-channel audio (Dolby Digital, THX, 5.1, 7.1, etc) encoded in the program should be connected to a suitable multi-channel amplifier with either a TOSLINK (optical), RF (coaxial) or HDMI cable for theatre-like sound. This can be done by (a) cabling from the source (DVD, BluRay Disk, Set Top TV Tuner, etc.) directly to a multi-channel amp and speakers, or (b) from the HDMI output of these devices (DVD, BluRay Disk, Set Top TV Tuner, etc.) into one or both of the TV's HDMI inputs. This will provide only stereo sound output from the TV speakers. You should connect the TV's TOSLINK optical "Digital Output" jack with an optical cable to the amplifier's TOSLINK optical input jack to obtain theatre sound.

To listen to the program shown, you would select the amplifier input assciated with the optical, RF or HDMI input that is connected to the source (DVD, BluRay Disk, Set Top TV Tuner, etc.) if connected directly. If the TV HDMI input(s) are used, they are output to the TV optical output and should be connected to the amplifier optical input. The amp input associated with the optical input should be selected to hear the program with theatre-like sound.

I want to know how to connect my lcd 32" tv to my new ht-c550 so that i can watch tv and listen to the sound of the tv through the surround system, what do i need to plug and where?

Not enough info here. But basically, the Audio Out from your TV (could be Toslink fiber-optic or Digital Coax or just Red and White Audio cables) go into the receiver's inputs (either TV, or Aux or whatever). If you just use the Red and White cables (stereo), you will not get true surround sound though. Just put your receiver on whichever one you hook it to (ie: Aux) and whatever sound is on the TV will come out the Stereo or Surround Sound. It's all a matter of hooking TV out to Stereo IN. Hope this helps; James

How to hook up

Hi, I can help. First of all it's not as hard as it looks. the last thing you will do is plug it in by the way ( this prevents any popping noises while hooking it up. We'll start with speakers, standard table lamp wire will do fine ( sometimes called zip cord) it is also usually polarized for you ( one of the two sides of the wire will be a little ribbed and the other will be smooth ) this makes it a little easier to keep speaker polarity correct( i usually go with the ribbed wire as hot) always make sure the positive(+) on the receivers speaker terminals are connected to the same on the speaker( the stereo and speakers will almost for sure be marked with red and black to help with that-red being + and black -) Next hook up something to the antenna terminal on the stereo for radio reception-the terminals will be marked 75ohm and 300ohm, if you do not have an antenna for this or don't listen to much radio not to worry, I find just a simple little wire bread tie with some of the plastic end stripped off works nicely for most local stations ( you will know when any antenna you try is connected by the fact you will stop getting just static.) Next connect whatever you want to listen to through your stereo, example: a dvd player can be connected with the dvd players " AUDIO OUT " going into the receivers connection for dvd (these are called rca connections-and are typically red and white plugs at both ends) also if listening in surround mode you can hook up a single rca cable to the orange connector on back of dvd player ( marked maybe as " DIGITAL PCM/LPCM " or simply " COAXIAL"the other end goes into the same connector on back of receiver. If no orange jack you may have a squarish looking connection called simply " DIGITAL IN " there may be a few of these, ones for satellite,cable,t.v. etc. These are called a "TOSLINK" connector, they are a rather stiff fiber optic cable with squarish ends that plug into the source with the surround sound output ( example when dvd player is playing the toslink jack will be lit up a little with a reddish light) same with a tv's digital output as well as cable/sat box's digital out. so that about wraps it up-just connect what you want to listen to with either rca cables or the toslink connectors-output of device being played to input on back of stereo. And if you need to connect up a recorder of any kind hook up recorders "LINE INPUT" to receivers " REC OUT" rca jacks. Thanks for choosing FixYa, I hope this helps, write back to let us know how we did or if we can be of more assistance. Good luck, Prodzilla

When I play CD only the right speaker is play but

first- is the tuner set to mono or stereo? if stereo, stop using the analog rca jacks and use an optical (toslink) cable to transfer your audio to your receiver. almost all cd players have this output and the same with the receiver. better still, if you are using a late model cd or bluray, and your receiver has hdmi inputs use those as they will transfer both audio and video with one cable.

Can I hook up my steroe speakers to the TV? I have an older model

If your older model TV has red and white plugs on the back of it that say something like "Audio Out" or "Output" then YES.

Simply connect a pair of RCA Cables (available any electronics store) from the Audio Out jacks on your tv to the "AUX" input on your stereo.

You cannot power speakers without some kind of stereo/receiver.

If you do have a receiver then you can connect to your "TV INPUT" on the back of your receiver and control the tv volume with your receiver remote.

If your tv does not have those red and white output jacks then there is no practical way for you to connect your speakers.

What to connect to where?

I would run toslink optical if you have it, if not then use coaxial digital from your TV output to receiver input. this will handle all the sound that goes with watching TV from any source(dvd player, cable, etc)

I would run the DVD player into the TV hopefully with HDMI cable so you get the surround sound.

the television can split off the audio information from the HDMI and send it back through the toslink cable to the receiver which decodes it into surround sound for your speakers.

Dual 2.5 GHz PowerPC G5 sound output

This is just how it works. The headphone jack on Macs is dual-purpose. If you plug in a mini-Toslink cable (like you have) it automatically sends the sound through that & increases the computer's volume to maximum. When you unplug the Toslink, the laser will still shine for a brief moment (but then it does go off). So, there is no way to keep the Toslink plugged-in AND utilize the built-in audio at the same time.

I have the following hardware: Marantz SR-4003 Receiver, Samsung LN52A650 HD TV, Samsung BDP-1500 Blu-Ray player, Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300HD cable box, two Paradigm Millenia 20 LCR Bookshelf...

Remove the HDMI cable (out) to the speakers from the receiver.
Connect regular speaker wire from the receiver to the speakers.
Of course, remove the (now extra) HDMI cable from the tv.
That will remove the loop.
