Write protected Hi, Im Nanthu. Pls help me. I have bought an 8GB Pen drive and Ican store about 3Gb of info on it. If it exceeds this, there is a popup of write delayed and remove write protection. In fact it is notwrite protected. But how can I remove all this and use my pen drivenormally.

can i convert the 4gb pendrive to 8gb..?
this is because the mc used in both are same, how to change default firmware installed in mc that flashes and make mc to increase its intensity of storage...if any1 kno..pls tell me da process..

Sent it back to your vendor and claim warranty. The pen drive write protected, there nothing you can do.

I would recommned you dispose of safely

Please also note there are alot of fake drives out there and if you purchased it cheap then this is also one of the symptoms

write protection on transcend 16gb pen drive

Try this,
1.
Check out if the USB drive has a small swich for write protection. If its there try toggling the switch.

2.
Windows can all write protect flash drives. Check out this registry path,

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies.

You may find a key here on the right side by the name 'WriteProtect'. If it's not there this would not be the cause of problem. If it's there, make sure that the value is 0.

Please let me know if this does'nt work.

if u format ur pen drive. then use this step

Check out the registry under:

1)click on start button
2)clik on run dialog box
3)type regedit
4) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies.
The value 'WriteProtect' should be absent or set to '0' and when you try to format it you have to format it as FAT16

I OWN A TRANSCEND pen drive of 8gb when i try to copy or format the command it shows is "cannot create,remove the write protected"what shall i do .the pen drive is very new
