"Not optimum mode" on SyncMaster913v monitor

My SyncMaster913v top monitor shows a floating box "Not Optimum Mode Recommended Mode: 1280x1024 60 Hz ?" ever since I installed the new Internet Explorer (maybe this is just a coincidence).
The monitor is connected to a Lenovo X300 Thinkpad via a Lenovo DisplayLink docking station.

Following the solutions posted here earlier I tried to change the monitor settings. It seems that I am not able to access the "Plug and Play-Monitor with Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family" as any changes there have an effect on my laptop, but not on my desktop monitor. And there is no 1280x1024 option.

Starting the computer in the secure mode did not help either.

Thanks a lot! Carmen

Tried that, but it did not help. Monitor no. 2 is not related to anything (I know this, because when it worked and I hit "identify" it showed 1 on the laptop monitor and 3 on the desktop monitor).

Tried setting 3. Lenovo Display Adapter to 1280 x 1024 Pixel, but nothing happens, and I still have this floating box on the screen.
Selecting 50 Hz or 60 Hz makes no difference.

In Windows (since it's a laptop I'll assume you're running Windows XP)
right-click on the desktop, select properties, and go to the settings tab.
Click on the display with the 2 in it, then set the resolution to 1280*1024.
If that doesn't work, you should check wether the desktop is extended to that display, or cloned on it. It should be set to the first.
by the way, in safe mode the resolution is always set to 800*600.

This should fix the problem!
If it doesn't, just post what happened here.

My computer is on but all I see on the monitor is a floating box with the message "Not Optimum Mode Recommended Mode: 1280X1024 60Hz.

Try connect a different monitor on your computer and change the resolution to 1280x1024. After that, replug the new monitor and it should work.

How do I change the setting on my Syncmaster monitor if I can't see anything but the message box..."Not Optimum Mode recommended mode 1280x1024 60 hz?

You could try pressing the auto adjust button (simply says 'Auto'), and see if that changes anything...don't know if this will work, but it is a start.

Monitor stops working and box start floating around on screen with "Not Optimum Mode -- Recommended Mode 1280 X 1024 60 Hz." Replacement monitor works on computer.

check if your monitor has an auto-adjust button, this will help you autoadjusting the recommended resolution so that there are no problems, if not, you can try to rightclick on windows desktop and go to properties>configuration, set the resolution there

Monitor goes black

Does it show a picture in safe mode? If it does you might want to install drivers specific to the Monitor if you can find them.
