I own a 2000 VW Bug and I think my battery is low. Whenever I leave the radio on over night the car doesn't want to start in the morning, but if I turn the radio off the car will start just fine. Also when I unlock my car it automatically locks itself again with a min or two which used to be a lot longer and if I don't put the key in the ignition and turn it before it locks the alarm on the car goes off. Is this a battery issue or an electrical issue?

If the radio is left on it can drain the battery.not only that,on the second setting,it runs alot more than just the radio.the auto lock time can be adjusted with the obd system, and if the battery went dead,it probably went to the default time of 2 minutes.if it is the original battery and it is 9 years old,it could be weak.
have what is known as an AVR test done to see what shape the battery is in.

"Whenever I leave the radio on over night the car doesn't want to start in the morning, but if I turn the radio off the car will start just fine" Not to be rude but why are you even doing that??? Its not made for that at all unless u buy a really good yellowtop. The radio is draining the battery. Duh... its like leaving the dome light on overnight when u try to start it the battery is dead. And for the alarm sounds like u need a new alarm or it to be reprogramed

Both, the battery has been run down too many times and your radio have a heavy power draw,if you have an aftermarket alarm it may have something to do with the problem.

How do I set the settings on my NAPA automatic starter/charger 85-435 to charge my car battery or to try to quick start my car? I have a 1997 VW Cabriolet.

It is best to "trickle charge" a low/dead car battery using the lowest setting. The "jump start" function will probably not have enough juice to start your car by itself. Refer to the manual of your charger for safety precautions.

Crank sensor

During the night or after the car sets for a while. The battery voltage will drop from the normal 13.6 to 13.8 volts when running and Charging, to between 12.3 to 12.6 volts. If the Crank Sensor is going bad, it may not operate correctly with the lower voltage. Check your Battery Voltage in the morning with a Volt Meter. If the Battery Voltage is lower than about 12.3 to 12.5 volts. You may need a new battery. Try leaving the battery on a low current Battery Maintainer overnight and see if it starts in the morning. I have seen many cars that shut down with Low Battery Voltage. Darn these New Fangled Cars and their Computers! FYI, we have never seen a Crank Sensor fail in this manner..... Check the RESTING Battery Voltage.

I was driving home in my 2000 VW bug, and out of no where the engine light came on. A few seconds later, the battery light went on and my car just turned off. I tried starting up the car, and it would do a...

Light's came on due to your alternator is defective, it's not putting out voltage any more and will have to be replace, the reason it started later, is your battery recharge itself, engine will only run till battery get low on voltage again, have the charging system check out, hope this was very helpful.

How to find a shortage on a vw jetta 2002

If you live where it is cold, your battery may need to be replaced . They will discharge with the cold during the night. Try changing the battery or checking your curent one. Install a known good battery that you know is fully charged, start the car and then turn it off leaving it for the night. If it does not start in the morning then you know it is not the battery. More than likely the alternator or regulator.

MY 92 INTEGRA WON'T START IN MORNING AND I CHANGED THE STARTER BUT THE SAME STILL

Does it start any other time? Did it start after you replaced the starter? If yes then it's your battery/charging system that needs checking out.You might start at night, then drive with your headlights and radio on draining your battery. Then in the morning it's too weak to start.Have someone Jump start your car, have them leave the jumpers on for 15 minutes, then rev the engine while you try to start the engine,if it starts it's not your starter, never was,it's a faulty charging system that depletes your battery's starting power (cold cranking amps) Good Luck.

2001 vw beetle after charging the battery over night it will not

Try jumpstarting from another car. You probably did not get the battery fully charged before you tried it. Also, check to see if the cables are connected tightly and if they are corroded, clean them before doing anything else. When you jump start, make sure the cables go on the correct terminals at both ends. Make the last connection to the ground on the bug (- wire)
