Belkin wireless the belkin wireless is not working and thier is a red light on on the router please help.

if the wireless light is lit up in red it says "someone is trying to connect to your network using wrong password"
Sometimes if any of your devices are not compatible with the security enabled in the router then the light will lit up in red. click here to know more about security types of belkin router
routers has to be turned off atleast 2 hours per day for it to work properly... so better turn off the router when not in use, this will clear the routing table of your router and will make the router to work as a fresh router everyday, so you wont face any speed problems.

TURN OFF ROTER AND MODEM

CONNECT MODEM CABLE TO WAP PORT ON ROUTER AND LAN CABLE TO PC OR LAPTOP

STEP3

NOW TURN ON FIRST MODEM AND AFTER A 5 MINUTS TURN ON ROUTER, YOU WILL SEE LIGHT IS TURNING ORANGE AND AFTER THAT GREEN

READY NOW JUST ENJOY YOUR ROUTER.

DONT INSTALL THE CD SOFTWARE DO ALL MANUALLY.

FOR GO IN TO YOUR ROUTER SETTINGS PLEASE LOG IN IN THE INTERFACE USING 192.168.2.1 OR JUST WRITE HTTP:// ROUTER

i recommend you to use wep kind of security for your router....

WIRELESS LIGHT WILL LIT UP IF YOU CONNECT ANY ANY WIRELESS DEVICE TO THE ROUTER.. FOR EX: YOU CAN SEE WIRED LIGHT LITTED UP BECAUSE YOU CONNECTED A COMPUTER WITH HELP OF ETHERNET CABLE.. IN THE SAME IT WILL WORK...

When there is limited connectivity check if the laptop gets an IP address from the router. ELse try configuring it manually. Restart the laptop if necessary.

A red light on your belkin router means its already busted as you decribe other lights are not ON at all. In all other types of modems and routers Red LED light on it mean synching up and if more than 20 secs with a red light is already considered busted.

Note: You may also check your phone cable rj11 , power surges, defective phone jack.

when you upgraded did any settings from your isp change like passwords or usenames that your router may not be registering at your isp's server, or the line speed that you are now getting is not suported by the router.

 

type 192.168.2.1 in your web browser and check the connection settings.
