Check the following areas to combat this issue. the most common problem spot will be a blown Thermal fuse.

1. Gas valve coils
Igniter glows, then shuts off without igniting gas - the problem is probably with defective coils (black, located on top of the gas valve). It is recommended to replace all coils (usually two or three) if found defective.

Note: Sometimes the whole gas valve may be defective, thus not letting the gas out. However, this problem is not common.

2. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.

Note: It is recommended by most dryer manufacturers to replace a hi-limit thermostat when replacing a thermal fuse.

3. Igniter
Igniter may burn out or break. Replace the igniter if found defective.

Note: Igniters are very fragile and break easily. It is recommended to handle the igniter only touching the ceramic part of it (usually white in color).

4. Flame sensor (or radiant heat sensor)
Replace the sensor (located near the igniter) if found defective.

Maytag neptune #mdg6800aww burner lights but wont stay lit after about 15 seconds

Well that could be a blocked vent causing over heat, bad blower wheel, simply cleaning out the dryer and opening up the vent helps a bunch. Ya gotta take the door off first to get in the machine. Then the front comes off then you can check the innards for airflow issues.
this un is electric model but they come apart the same. If the glowbar comes on and the flame sensor shuts down the glowbar ok and flame comes on and runs about 30 seconds that seems to be the norm for this style dryer. The heat does not stay on. Clean it up and put it back together and if it does better ok if it dont then you gonna need to replace the cont stat and gas valve coils.

Ge gas dryer heats but doesnt dry

if the flame is lighting you have lint blocking the air flow either in the dryer or in the vent line, also if you have a flame for the first 10 to 20 minutes and then the flame doesn't light you have bad gas coils located on top of the gas valve, when the coils are bad they can work for the first 10 to 20 minutes until the coils get hot and then they fail and you'll see the ignitor glowing orange but no flame, bad gas coils.then when the coils cool down they can work again.hope this helps.you can try removing the vent line from the back of the dryer and see if the flame stays on,if lint is blocking the air from blowing out the flame won't stay lit long enough to dry the clothes.

Have a Maytag gas dryer, model#:LDG7314AAE, flame wont stay lit.

Clean/repair your dryer vent. The flame when it exits the funnel should not touch or just barely touch the funnel end. This indicates good airflow. A good test for the clogged/damaged vent is to disconnect the vent hose from the dryer and run it as is. If the flame stays - clean vent. If not - clean air path inside the dryer

Whirlpool gas dryer model # LGR4634JQ1. The dryer has an initial flame when first started up, but after about 15 seconds the flame goes out and the dryer remains cool.

The flame sensor is probably bad. This is located on the side of the tube the flame is in. Has two wires going to it. Try to short it out and see if the flame stays lit. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES OPERATE THIS DRYER WITH CLOTHES IN IT WITHOUT THE FLAME SENSOR IN PLACE!!!!! The other problem might be air flow. If the duct is blocked the flame will trigger the high limit switch. Take the hose off the back of the dryer and turn it on. There should be a lot of air flow. If there is and the flame stays on the duct hose or outlet is clogged.

Whirlpool LGR4634JQ1

Check for a restricted vent. Clean vent and check for kinks. Make sure lint screen is clean. If you do-not have good airflow due to a restriction, the burner will not stay on. It's a safety thing.
