If your background is "Black" it's going to print it all black, change your background color to "Gray" and your machine will then print a gray background instead of black. Also note that when you print a black background your toner life expectancy will be no where your expected yield ratio is. Average yield is 5% for X (X meaning size of cartridge) amount of printed pages. If your printing a black background your utilizing 100% yield coverage. Not sure if this is the answer your looking for. However basic black and white printing with a black background will print the page completely black.
Print a test page. if that is ok, then it could be the color profile you have selected. Also, you can make your own test pattern of Yellow, magenta, and cyan. (use mspaint and make 3 colored bars, a black bar, and a white background). Print that, and see if all 3 colors and black are printing. If one color is not printing (ie, yellow for example) then there is an issue with that printer head on that cartridge. If you are recycling the carts, then that cart needs replaced.
the printer is fine its the computer that you are printing from that is giving the wronge information. try reinstalling it onto that computer. and check that the background on the word documents are not black on print prevew first. or you have not chosen on the program you are printing from there is not a background colour that needs sending to the back.
1) In the Applications Menu on your copy screen there should be a option to turn on or off a background color fill. Turn it off and try. If it still comes out try hitting panel reset. If this doesnt work.
2) You have a bad Image Unit. Change the yellow image unit.
3) You may also have a bad write unit. Pull out the four write units and check the yellow write unit. It may have gone bad in which case it needs to be replaced.
What photo program do you use? Is the yellow background on all Word doc's? You should check WORD go to the Format|Background make sure
"no fill" is selected. You should also check your print properties in control panel and any special program DELL uses. Make sure there isn't some custom setting that is printing the yellow background.
Let me know what happens.
Good Luck,
Tim
