Fuse blew on on cable coming from batter, replaced fuse now my kenwood excelon ddx7015 and amp xxv-02a wont power up , but when i test the fuses they have power

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

Yneed to confirm that you have sufficient power supply voltage. With your multimeter set to DC volts, the black meter probe on the ground terminal of the amp (not on the point where the ground wire connected to the vehicle) and the head unit on (so the amp will have remote voltage applied), touch the red probe alternately to the B+ and remote terminals of the amp. If the voltage is below ~11 volts, you need to check the wiring feeding whichever line is too low. If both the B+ and remote turn-on lines are low and your battery is fully charged, you may have a bad ground connection.

What size fuse are you using? You need a 30-
amp at least and #8 to #10 wire I would go
with the # 8 maybe lower, if it blows a fuwse
now you have a shorted output in your amp.
May This Will Help.

My kenwood excelon x1200m amp turned off randomly and will not turn back on

You may have blown a fuse. There should be one on the amp itself and the other is generally installed on the main 12V power cable. Most installers put it in the engine compartment for easy access. Pull each fuse and make sure it's still intact. If not you'll need to replace it. Most auto parts stores will carry the fuse, just take the old one in to make sure you get the correct amperage.

My father inlaw disconnected my batter to my vehicle... and when it was connected again my kenwood excelon xxv-05v asks me for a security code... how do i get this code?

You would have set this code when it was brand new, if you didn't set the code then it would be the factory code. Check your owners manual, if you don't have that you could try and call Kenwood, they may be able to give you the code with the serial number from the radio.

How can i connect my ipod to a kenwood excelon XXV-01D i see the aux plug in the back and when i pluged my ipod in i cant find the mode that allows me to play it.

There is a button that should say SRC or Source. Pressing it scrolls through the modes. Press once to move to FM, another time to move to Satellite, etc.

Stop when you get to AUX.

Amp wont turn on

Double check all of your connections. I know this same problem has happened to me and come to find our that all the problem was the fuse blew that is connected between the radio and amp. Also check you battery connection. Corrosion on the power cable will also cause it to have a bad connection.

I have an issue.. my battery died yesterday the guy who jumped my car messed up and attached the jumper cables wrong on his battery. Now my kenwood excelon ddx 7015 wont turn on at all do you think it is...

Hello Melissa,

The first thing I would check is if your fuse is okay. If your fuse is blown replace and try to turn on the radio. If the fuse is good have the radio taken out and have it bench tested. take the power wire and the memory wire put them together and apply power to them then take the black wire and connect it to ground if the radio turns on then its okay and he fried something else. If the radio doesn't turn on then chances are that he fried it.

You can use a car battery to test your radio or a portable boost jumper.

Hope this helps you.

Kenwood Excelon KAC-X521

According to page 7 of the radio's manual, E-02 means the amp has failed and DC is being applied to the speakers. It also says "Turn the POWER switch "OFF" and release the protection."

Protection Function flashing with error code E-2

I do believe that error is a short between the positive and negative terminals. Check your wiring and measure with with a ohm meter, it should be more that 1, if not 2 ohms. With the wires from the speaker termanils removed and the amp off check the condinuity between the two terminals, there should be none...if you have some that thats where the short is occuring and work needs to be done on the amp to fix the problem
