Lost my DS-40 audio files after upload. Can I recover them?

I uploaded audio files from my Olympus DS-40 digital recorder onto my computer. When I went back to listen to them after they were erased from my recorder they were all gone. Is there anyway to recover these files from the computer or the digital recorder?

You can use card recovery software that helped me before
1. Do not save any new file to memory card.
2. Connect your card to computer. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in My Computer.
3. Download recovery software, recommended one is this photo recovery (simply because i was using it and it worked)
http://www.asoftech.com/adr/
4. Install and open the data recovery program, select your memory drive, and click 'Next' button to start scanning process which will find your deleted files.

You may need to try some recovery software to rescue the audios, here are some for your option. You may not recover all the ones, but will recover most of them.

Photo Audio Video Recovery (for Windows)
Photo Audio Video Recovery for Mac

Both programs are able to recover pictures, videos and music files.

Note: Before your files are recovered, do not attempt to save more files to your digital voice recorder(memory card or stick) in case the original lost files are overwritten.

Have you used this recorder to take anything new?
If not, you could directly restore your audio files from this recorder.

1). Plunge this recorder to your computer.

2). Download and launch a file data recovery program to help you. I know there is a file data recovery freeware that could restore your needed files successfully just in the same way as it has completely restored the files of my fiend.

Try to download this freeware here:
http://freeware-fix.blogspot.com/2013/04/usb-drive-recovery.html

3). Save these restored audio files on a different drive or storage device in case of data loss.

4). Never try to save something important on only one place in the future.

Hello, rattyb5! Don't worry. You can rely on this photo recovery software (also recover audio and video files); it can help you recover your lost audio files from your Olympus DS-40 digital recorder (or memory card):
Photo Recovery for Windows Users
Photo Recovery for Mac Users
Kind Suggestion: Before your audio files are retrieved, do not save more files to the device (or memory card) in case the original files (your audio) are overwritten.
Best wishes!

How to restore audio files from formated Olympus digital recorder

You should stop recording new ones to prevent the old ones from being overwritten. If your digital recorder has a memory card, take it out and insert it to your computer with a card reader. If the device has built-in memory, just connect it to your PC directly. On your computer, you need a video/audio recovery program. Fine one, install and run it. The software will help you scan lost audio files from your recorder, then it'll show you what it's found. Choose the files you want and hit the "Recover" button to start recovery process.

If you're a Mac user, please feel free to try this Mac based video/audio recovery app. http://www.leawo.org/photo-recovery-mac/

Ds-40 can deleted files be restored?

In this case you should connect your recorder to PC and then you can try to restore your files with Easy Drive Data Recovery software:

It uses unique modern algorithms to recover files that other software either recovers incorrectly or is unable to detect.

File Recovery from Olympus VN-6200 PC voice recorder

Hi,

First things first: DO NOT take any more videos or audio with the recorder that you want to recover files from in case you may quite possibly ruin your chances of voice memo file recovery.

Then connect your recorder to another PC with a recovery program installed. Photo Recovery Software (also recover Voice memos, audio and video files) is right what you need to use if you are running Windows. If you are Mac OS X users, turn to Data Recovery for Mac.

But you should remember - the more you use your recorder, the less likely you may be able to recover the deleted files back! So STOP using the device ASAP. Good Luck!

Accidental erasing

Check all folders on the recorder. Sometimes dictation inadvertently goes into another folder. Also; if the recorder is disconnected from the computer too soon after the expected amt of time it takes to upload to computer, the files may become lost (in space?) This has happened to my physicians in the past. Must leave the recorder connected to the uploading doc until you are certain files have been uploaded. Best to bring up the Olympus download folder to be certain.

System Error

it would appear that the files needed to operate the recorder have been deleted and need to be uploaded to the recorder... if you dont have them on your computer, then you will need to send to repair center
