Laptop battery light won't stay on

The battery might be dead. Batteries only have a useful life and after that they have to be replaced.

Does your laptop work ok off the AC Adapter Power Cord? If so, your battery is dead and your power cord is good. If the laptop does not work off the Power Cord then either your Power Cord is bad or the DC Power Jack where the power cord plugs into the laptop is bad. In either case a good battery will not charge if the power cord or the DC Jack is bad.

Check your DC Power Jack which is where the power cord plugs into the compute. Take an ink pen and push the tip inside the jack and see if the little pin wiggles, if so the jack is bad. You'll have to take the laptop apart to fix it. Most times it is soldered onto the motherboard, so you will have to desolder the old and solder a new one.

Emachine t3985 won't turn on

Give us more details on what happens when you hit the power button. Does it try to turn on? See any lights or hear any beeps? Hear any fans?
If you really want help give details to get a solution.

Remove the Power Cord, Remove the Battery, Remove the Memory Cover and remove one of thememory chips. Set the chip aside then try rebooting the computer. If it boots, then you know the memory chip you set aside is bad so mark an x onit with an ink pen. If it fails to boot then move the chip to the nextmemory slot and try rebooting. If it fails take the chip out and set itaside, then put the other chip in and try booting it in both slots. If itboots, just to verify that the chip set aside is bad, mark an x on it and putit into the open memory chip slot and try booting.

I hadn't charged my Sony Vaio model PCG-61611L for a couple days. Then when I finally plugged it in to charge, it won't turn on. I even left it plugged in for a few days and still nothing. It has...

Try A Hard Reset

Remove the battery and charger/ac adapter/power cord from your Sony Vaio laptop, press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to discharge any residual current inside the laptop.

This clears your RAM and is like a hardware reset.

Replace the battery and charger/ac adapter/power cord
and turn your laptop on.

If that does't work try removing ram and reinstall. Sometime this works with these laptops.

When I turn on my laptop the power lights up and shuts off after a few seconds

either a bad battery, or charge port. even if the battery was fully charged it will still keep the light on, try this. plug it in, and power it on, then remove the battery completly, the computer should stay on, as its running off the plug power cord. if this port is a bad one the pc will shut off immeadatly. and if it stays running then it will be the battery.

Compaq Presario V2000 will not boot.

Remove the battery and just leave it off the computer, then plug in the power cord and try it. If it works with no battery...the battery is completely dead and you need to replace.

Cannot shut off & no display

The eMachines M5105 is notorious for failing to boot if left unplugged and powered off long enough for the battery to become mostly discharged. Plugging it in to AC power will cause the battery to start charging; and the hard disk drive to spin while the CPU cooling fan cycles on and off vigorously. THE UNIT WILL NOT BOOT UNTIL THE BATTERY IS NEAR FULLY CHARGED; then THE AC DISCONNECTED; and then THE (charged) BATTERY REMOVED AND RE-INSTALLED! Most units will boot after following the foregoing procedure.

Problem with emachine m5124 startup

Take the battery out and unplug the power cord. Press down the power button continuously for a solid 30 seconds without stopping. This drains all the power out of the circuits and resets whatever invalid state your computer is in.

Now, leave the battery out but plug in the AC and turn on the laptop. If it works, turn it off again and insert the battery. All should be well.
