i got the same problem with my ym 11 too.. but honestly looks like its ym problem that it may just work whenever it want to.. :( but try this.. open Yahoo Messenger click on "Messenger" (on top), choose "Connection Preferences" select "Connect via Proxy Server" try to log in ..
if it doesn't work put it back to the original settings, same instruction go to YM, click Messenger then Connection Preferences select "Connect directly to the Internet".. this time try to disconnect your internet connection first.. and then with your YM open enter your username & password but dont click "connect" yet.. connect to internet & log in to ym (you should click "connect on ym right after a second you are connected to the internet)
if you can browse the internet but YM program doesn't launch at all it could be the program has problem of its own, you can try uninstalling your current YM program by going to control panel then add/remove programs then choose your yahoo messenger and click remove, then install a new one from the internet: you can download a stand alone installer of yahoo messenger by using this link: http://download.yimg.com/ycs/msg/dl/msgr10/us/ymsgr1000_1241_us.exe
1st sorry 4 my poor English.
if you have problem to sigin Yahoo Messenger(YM) .
1st you check the internet explore(IE)is working correctly. most of the time it don't work. (but Firefox,chrome,Gtalk,etc..etc.. are works correctly)
so go to IE ->Tools->Internet options->Connections->LAN Settings->
Check Automatically Detect settings and uncheck other options (See the Screen shot below).
Now IE and YM will work fine....
check out ur audio driver in device manager look for update.
you can update in device manager but sometimes(more often than not) get reply latest driver installed.
well the latest driver isnt always the best.
if this the case download a driver from hp site .if driver still no better or worse;you can roll back driver in device mannager to previous one.
could try update codecs (encode/decode) as different codecs have different compression ratio's.
