Try to remove all other base plate screws first. If they can be removed gently try to pull open by hand against the lid while rotating the remaining screw. You will need to apply outward pressure betweent the insert and baseplate to remove it while rotating with a driver and using the separating pressure to allow it to unscrew.
The inner housing may have a cap nut on it which has spun loose or the threaded area of the housing has likely cracked if the head has been dropped.

How do I replace the roller brush on a kirby Heritage II?

The brushroll is held onto that baseplate by the metal brackets on either end of it. You have to slightly bend them outward to remove the brushroll.

Ive put a new roller brush in my dyson dc14 now it makes a awful noise

Hi There,
I work as a tech for VacuumSpot and the problem you are describing is pretty common. It generally happens when you replace the belt or roller as the new one isn't worn so is marginally thicker than the old one. Basically what you need to do is remove the base plate and turn the brush roller by hand to make sure it is seated correctly. It is best to then replace the base plate and run it while its upside down so you can see that the roller is turning freely.
THe sound you are hearing is the clutch engaging because the roller is not able to turn freely because it is pressing against the baseplate. Once the roller and belt are able to turn while the baseplate is on the sound will go away.

The fan housing tube is cracked just below the bottom clamp. How to replace

Its not to difficult, its just requires some patience. The first thing Ill recommend is removing the handle from the fan chamber tube, it should come apart pretty easily simply by turning the flange that threads it together. Watch the video I've attached it explains the removal of the handle. The bottom of the bag has a small metal spring clip that holds it onto the handle, just lift that off. Set the whole thing to the side. The cord will still be attached to the base, which is fine, its just easier to work on it when all that's set aside. You'll want to flip it over like you're changing the belt, remove the baseplate screws and pull it off. That'll expose the motor, belt, brushroll, fan chamber and dirt intake tube. Remove the belt, set it and the brushroll aside. On the right hand side there's one screw that holds the dirt intake tube on and two screws on the other side that hold the motor in. Remove them all. The dirt intake tube should slide out, set it aside. You'll need to pull the motor off the other side by wiggling it back and forth until it pops free from the fan chamber. Its just a friction fit. The chamber should be free, you'll need to just rotate it around to remove it from the base and it should come out. To reinstall the new one you just put it back in the opening on the base, refit the fan and motor back into it, hold the dirt intake tube on the other side and fit it back in gently. Oreck's don't have a rats nest of wiring or moving parts so just keep an eye on the screws and be patient!

How to remove brush cover of discovery advantage upright vscume cleaner

Lay vacuum on table or other surface on it's front.
Remove the 4-5 screws on the base plate.
There may be a rectangular hole on each side of the wheels. If so, insert a standard screwdriver and rotate gently to release latches.
Carefully hold the halves together and turn vacuum onto it's back.
Lifting from the back, remove the power nozzle cover.

If replacing the belt or brush, remove the screws located at each end of the brush. Lift brush out and remove belt.
You can no replace the belt, brush, or both. I also recommend giving the insides a good cleaning before reassembling. Make sure when you reassemble, insert the lip of the cover into the slot, then close the back. Some gentle manipulating may be necessary.

The tech drive has come off, how do i put it back in place.

The pedal assembly must be replaced,( part # 558401S), as it has a gear pressed to it which has come loose. The handle, switch plate, and upper motor cover must be removed first. To remove the plastic switch plate, remove it's screws and insert a flat screwdriver into the rectangular slot in it to pop it off. Four screws hold the upper motor shell in place. Next the switch button must be removed. The Techdrive assembly can be removed by removing the three screws on the bottom. Drop the drive down, and unhook it's belt from the gear on the end of the armature shaft. The pedal assembly can be removed by removing the remaining screw from the bottom of the drive unit. The N/D pedal has two parts - the pedal itself, and the shift cam. Observe carefully how these units fit together. After installing the new pedal and replacing the screw and washer to secure it, re-install the drive unit. The shift must be in the Drive position to install it, and remember to replace the belt. Be sure to line up the arm on the drive unit so that it engages the slot at the base of the handle pivot and re-install the other items.

I cannot find my owner sheet and need to change the belt in my upright oreck

THERE IS A SINGLE SCREW ON THE SIDE OF THE VAC KNOWN AS THE 'BELT DOOR'.

LAY VAC ON IT'S RIGHT SIDE, SO THE BELT DOOR IS STICKING STRAIGHT UP IN THE AIR. REMOVE DOOR AND BELT DOOR. CUT OLD BELT IF IT IS NOT BROKEN. TUCK NEW BELT UNDER BRUHROLL PULLEY FIRST THEN STRECH OVER MOTOR SHAFT.

DO NOT REPLACE BELT BY REMOVING BASEPLATE. 1) THE MOTOR IS NOT STABLE ENOUGH FOR THE TIGHT BELTS WITHOUT THE SUPPORT OF THE MOTOR 2) REPLACING BASEPLATE IMPOPERLY MAKES VACUUMING DIFFICULT. ">

The brushes on my new healthy home vacuum wont rotate when the machine is turned on how do i access the belt location

If you turn the vacuum over so you can see the brush roll, there is a brush cover that is held on by (4) screws. Remove those screws and the base plate cover will come off. With the base plate cover off you can access the roller brush an belt. If you need a replacement belt you can get it here:
