When I turn my camera on, the LCD screen is displaying an odd picture. It looks like a picture of a small hole with cracking around it. There are a few vertical lines down the center of the entire screen & at the bottom of the screen, there is a tiny cursor that is flashing. I took a few random shots even though I couldn't see anything on the screen & when I checked my card, the pictures of the objects I took were there. I took out the battery, recharged it. Took the lens off to see if there were any external visible signs of damage, but did not see any. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If the set got struck on the screen the screen itself may not be cracked but the panel (The entire front where you view the image is called a display panel) may be damaged inside.
A good photo would tell me--usually it will look like a odd burst or lines and or colors more pronounced where the screen was hit and spreading out in a uneven pattern---Google for "Pictures of Damaged LCD or Plasma screens"
Go to the menus and reset to default or factory settings. Make sure that the white setting in the picture adjustments in the menus are set to zero or you may have to adjust + or - to get the normal effect again. Test the camera by taking pictures and saving to a sd card. Then put the card in a card reader/writer which is connected to the computer. Copy the pictures or files to the computer and view them to see if they are in good shape or if there is some problem with exposure or the way it looks. If the computer pictures show that they are good, and they are not showing good on the camera LCD, then the LCD has a problem, and is possibly either cracked or has some other display problem. These LCD screens are not that hard to change if you are good at working with small items and screws. If you do this, make sure you have a way to remember where you got each screw, as they can vary in size and kind.
if your screen does not display any figures , numbers or icons then the LCD screen is dead. If you look closely at the LCD scren and fine cracks or lines on it then i advise ou to take it to arepair shop for replacement.

This depends on your warranty, if it covers cracks and the product being dropped I'm sure they will give you a new one to replace it, or find parts to repair it.
Had the same problem myself, I purchased a new lcd from ebay (user name: ProphotoSD). He has tons of factory LCD's, cost around 90$. Please note that if you cracked the clear cover above the lcd that is a separate piece however it wont effect the lcd working (this piece is also replaceable). Then I found a simple tutorial for disassembling the camera body on google. Took me like 25 min, very simple job, just need a very small phillips head screw driver. Hope this helps!
Two things can cause lines across the LCD either horizontal or vertically. The first (and most likely) is a small crack in the display wafer. LCD stands for Liquid Cristal Display. They are very fragile and can be easily damaged if dropped. I broke one in my pants pocket.
The second would be if a pin on the ribbon cable (to the LDC wafer) was not making good contact. If you disassemble the camera it is possible to clean the contacts using contact cleaner (or alcohol).Only attempt this is you are willing to replace the camera if you don’t put it back together properly.
No easy fix. Pressure or impact is the usual cause of a cracked LCD. Try not to get the black stuff on anything....it's pretty toxic! The screen needs to be replaced (assuming there's no other, internal damage). They are usually in the range of $75 US.
You can replace the lcd screen although you do need to be careful. You camera has a flash capacitor that contains 300 volts and if you short it out you can easily fry the camera circuitry. You can check on ebay for an lcd or call fuji usa. I will warn you though their parts department isn't the most helpful.
