Our Schwinn Hitch Hiker Bike Trailer BROKE OFF while my five-year-old daughter was riding it. I just looked at other reviews on Target.com, and we are not the only one this has happened to. How can we make sure this product is recalled before some child is going down a hill or on a major road when this happens?!!

I could not find a weight limit specified anywhere, but it is designated as a man's bike and that should cover up to at least 250 pounds. However, the reviews state things like flimsy, and recommended for light (500 miles a year) riding. 240 pounds will probably stress it quite a bit. You might want to look for something more sturdy. If price is a consideration try craigslist for a used electric or hybred.

This particular strap is a safety backup strap. This strap is just for in case that the first one securing the trailer to the bike breaks so it will still stay connected to your bike.

From what I can tell the Schwinn Instep Trailer uses exactly the same hitch. Below are videos of someone with your trailer and another with the Instep (showing the entire install procedure) as well as a link to a manual that should apply at least to the hitch of your manual.
